What do you with calluses?
Posted by mizzli on July 23, 2013 at 3:55 amHi guys,
Do you guys cut your calluses? Mine are getting hard and scratchy and it's got to the point where I can feel them pressing into my hands when I pole.
Not sure if it's a good idea to cut them but I have tried to file it down every now and then!
Do you leave yours or cut them?

Amy had a blog about them a few years back. She found the best thing was a cutter style thingy. http://aerialamy.com/blog/2011/05/24/recent-buys/
Mine have not gotten to the point of needing anything quite yet but I will say that if I go swimming or sit in the hot tub they do peel. I also know people who have ripped theirs which is completely unpleasant.
This thread is very helpful also:

I get very proud of my calluses, however if they get too big and there isn't callus underneath, then them ripping off becomes a problem. I routinely shave mine down with a razor blade – sounds weird, but it really works. Having a small amount of callus is great, but you do have to keep them under control so they don't tear off.

I peel mine off or sometime use my ped egg on them. Then use corn huskers lotion to moisturize the spot where the callus was. Helps a little but I still have rough spots on my hands despite what I do. Ah, poler problems….

Hi all,
@Chemgoddess1 – will take a look at the link, thanks 🙂
I've started to cut at mine as it's beginning to hurt me when I do spins. 🙁
I was hoping that it would go away with moisturising cream but they don't seem to do much (I moisturise after I wash my hands and at bedtime).
I bought some gloves from my local chemist that you wear after moisturising at nights and it's supposed to keep the hands moisturised but I haven't noticed much of a difference except holding my toothbrush and stopping it from slipping out of my hands has become a challenge in the mornings. lol!

I bite mine like biting my nails. Its a bit weird. The hardened skin bothers me.
