Hey everyone! I've been a member of studio venna for a few months now,but i've just watching videos and reading forums because I don't have a pole and can't afford one right now https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif.  I've been dreaming about pole dancing.I get so pumped up and excited watching all you talented ladies! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif lol

Anyways, I've just got a new job and plan to save up money for a pole and lessons. What would be some good exercises or activities I can do that will be beneficial to pole dancing without having a pole? Should I focus on flexibility and strength? If so which muscles? Do any of you do cardio, like running, in addition to pole dancing?

If you are on a budget buy the $20/month lesson subscription and the few items you need like a resistance band and dumbbells which are usually pretty cheap if you get them at walmart or target. she has a lot of flexibility and strength training moves you can do to get a head start so when your pole comes you will be all set. you can also work on floorwork too without having a pole and she has a lot of fun floorwork and chair moves 🙂

Just keep an eye on the $20/month because it auto renews.  The lessons do have some off the pole work.  The stretching and conditioning is off pole.  You can modify the strength routine to be off the pole too.  I did parts of it on a door frame/wall today.  Floor and chair is good and fun IMO it doesn't really prep you for pole tricks, but I'm so not a dancer.

I'm also looking for cardio to complement the pole.  I try to dance on my no trick days (need a day to recover) but I'm terrible and get bored really quick.

Yoga is great, it complements everything.  It can be easy stretching one day, then modify for strength the next.

There are a lot of lessons here that can be done off the pole, stretching conditioning and most of the strength along with floorwork and even some transitions can be worked on without a pole. I start you off with strength training in the lessons anyway. Something like Handstands ect can be worked on by using a wall instead. The Pole Strength Routine could be done without a pole and is great for cardio and strength. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif
