What grip products are you allergic to?
Posted by swedishrose on August 29, 2013 at 6:54 amHi Ladies and Gents,
I've tried many different grip products and found a few I'm very allergic too i.e. firm grip and pole physics lotion. I was wondering if anyone else has had the same problem with grip products and if so which ones? I know I'm not the only one with sensitive skin. Thanks!

I have very sensitive skin, the rosin bag is doing wonders for me! thank you to simplly sweet she told me about this

We have sold a couple 100 thousand containers of Mighty Grip and never had a problem with an allergic reaction or at least no one has said anything to that affect. I would really like to know if anyone has had an allergic reaction to our product just for my own information. The ingredients are supposed to be inert.
Thank you, Joel

I just purchased Mighty Grip for the first time and it works very well. I like that it doesn't leave a chalky residue on the pole like Dry Hands. Somebody had an entire post on putting vinegar on the pole instead of alcohol and that seemed to really irritate my skin!!

The two products I've had reactions to are firm grip spray and pole physics lotion. My guess is I'm allergic to the plant extracts.

Sweedishrose, what kind of reaction did you have after using pole physics? I only ask because I tried it a few days ago and now I have a poison Ivey type breakout. I had to go to the doctor today and she asked me if I used anything new on my skin. Any input would be helpful. Thank you

Pixiefitness,
That’s the exact kind of reaction I had! You may be allergic to one of the ingredients as well. I’ve started using followed immediately mighty grip just before I pole. Works really well. One of my friends turned me onto it. -
I developed an itchy rash with Dry hands. I think it was my own fault–I used it in my elbow pit, which wasn’t a good idea, in hindsight! 🙁 I stick with Mighty Grip and (in the winter) and haven’t had any issues.

Swedishrose thank you very much for letting me know. I feel relieved I’m not the only one. My whole body broke out, however I did apply it all over me. How did you get rid of the terrible rash? I’m afraid I may have to get a shot because the steriod cream is not working at the moment. I think it got a little worse than it was this morning.

Pixiefitness,
If you need the steroid shot get it. I’ve had to get them before in the past. In the mean time, wash everything that may be cross contaminated, i.e. what you may have touched when you had the pole physic lotion on. Sheets, clothes, shoes, chairs if your bare legs came in contact. I also have a genetics degree and work in a microbiology lab for a while. Hope this helps! -
Swedidhrose,
Thank you for the information! Today went worse for me, I woke up with a huge upper lip, so I send my Dr. A pic of my lip, she made me go in for my shots today. 2 shots in the butt cheeks! One was fast acting the other lingers in the system for a few days. Basically I’m not out of the woods yet, I’m still in danger of my throat closing up:-( I don’t think they did very much testing before they released this product. The Gum they use can have an msg effect on some people, and who knows what plant extract they used. Very very unsafe product. I’m pretty angry with that company right now. There bottle needs to come with a warning. As for now I’m cleaning everything I came into contact with! Thanks again Swedishrose:-) btw I think I’m in the background of your picture:-) the one in the red dress! Lol what a small world:-) if ever you come to florida come take a class at Pixie! Home of Derick Pierson! 1st class on me! I can’t thank you enough for starting this thread! -
This is a good lesson that not all organic and “chemical nasty” free products work for every body. Ginkgo is known as an allergen, especially to those who have nut allergies and who are severely allergic to things like poison ivy and oak.
“Ginkgo fruit and pulp can cause severe allergic skin reactions and irritation of mucous membranes. Ginkgo might cause an allergic reaction in people who are allergic to poison ivy, poison oak, poison sumac, mango rind, or cashew shell oil.
There is some concern that ginkgo leaf extract might increase the risk of bruising and bleeding. Ginkgo thins the blood and decreases its ability to form clots. A few people taking ginkgo have had bleeding into the eye and into the brain, and excessive bleeding following surgery. Ginkgo leaf extract can cause allergic skin reactions in some people.” (source: http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginfo/natural/333.html)
Now this is for taking it orally but PP does have ginkgo extract in it which can cause issues.
I also have an issue with their term “nature identical”.

I have super sensitive skin. I feel like breathing can give me a rash sometimes lol. I use straight gym chalk and have no problem with it & its worked the best for me. Thankfully the other products I’ve tried (dry hands & tite grip) haven’t caused allergic reactions with me, they just didn’t work..
