What is that move?
Posted by Smarty Prance on October 29, 2013 at 4:10 amHello beautiful polers!
Does anybody know the name of this X-Pole move? Or how to do it?
On the X-pole website, on their “SHOP” page, there’s a picture at the very top of a gal in purple shorts doing what looks like an Allegra but right-side-up! It looks great and I want to learn it too! Anybody have any ideas?

Wow, good question! I searched both the PDC Syllabus, as well as the Pole Dance Dictionary and I couldn’t find it in either one… though I’m sure I’ve seen that move before!

It’s a non-twisted ballerina variant. I don’t know if it’s been given a specific name or so.
Hmm…I’ve not tried that, but visualizing this in my head I think it could be done something like this:
Grip the pole with your legs and bend your upper body down a little as if you were going to get into an ordinary ballerina. Grab the pole behind you (over your head) with the hand that will later hold the top leg. With that hand supporting you, you should be able to lift the back leg and adjust the front leg without falling out. I mean that you should bend the front leg more so that the knee and thigh comes up a bit (to make space for the hand which will come in under it). Then I’m not sure if the back leg should be grabbed first with the hand you have still on the pole, or if this happens at the same time as you place that other hand under your front leg. Anyway, when the hand is at the correct position, straighten the leg.
Now when both hands are in place I think you’ll have to adjust the tilt of the body so that the front leg ends up parallel to the floor.
I think that last adjustment will hurt…
Ok, this was just how I think it could be done, so I can’t garantee anything ;).

Is it the skater spin? Or maybe the oona spin? :/ I’m not sure.

Someone should have linked, coz I didn’t find it at first either. There are different x-pole sites.
Here it is: http://xpoleus.com/store/

Thank you, Ladies!
I’m going to see if I can work my way into it!

I do a version of that from a twisted ballerina too. You can do it from the non-twisted or twisted.

I like it from a twisted ballerina too Kyrsten. For me it is easier then chopstix since I don’t have to fumble for the back leg 🙂
