What is this move called?
Posted by poleprincess89 on June 3, 2011 at 9:43 pmi have a pretty bendy back so i think i could learn this trick one day. it can be my long-term goal. do any of you know what this move is called or how to get into it? my guess is that you would start with a layback, set up the hand/arm position and pull the back leg against the pole and then extend the front leg?

It's one of Anastasia Skukhtorova's signature moves (and it's her in that pic in fact) so have a scout round some of her youtube clips for a way to get into it:)

Elizabeth marchenko created this move. Here’s a video of the first rainbow marchenko. Anastasia and Rebecca starr also do this move. Very cool. Also one of my long term goals 🙂

If you watch the video of Aera from Polesque Rebecca gets into it at the beginning of the routine.

I love that move, though think I'll be a long way off that – plans for ultimate flexibility training I think this summer now exams are over along with trying to master everything else!
Anastasia goes into it so fluidly in this clip (between 2:00 to 2:20):

Just to add a quick note, Rebecca has been in the circus for a good deal of her life and travels around the world with her act. Her bendiness comes from YEARS of training.

Hope you didn't think I thought I could master it in one summer Chem Goddess – that would be a mean feat!! It's nice to strive towards something though in the bendy stakes, or just to appreciate the beauty of! If I can get back to my gymnastic days of bendiness I'd be happy – this is on another level though!

this move is truly beautiful but really really hard! i have a pretty flexible back too but i feel the strech a lot in this move and its very exhausting. its dangerous going into it if the back is not bendy enough. you can train it in the split at the ground. if you are able to curve your back and reach your back foot with the opposite hand in a normal ground split, you also will be able to do this on the pole upside down 🙂

This picture is my desktop background. The way Anastasia does it is sooo beautiful and inspiring to me!
On her facebook she has posted a couple tips for people who want to try. Once she suggested trying it from Brass Monkey … However, if you are flexible enough for this move, you can definitely go from a CAR instead. Mostly she recommends trying it with a spotter because it is "very dangerous". If you are her friend on facebook her English is very cute. 🙂
