So I hope I don't bore anyone with this soon to be long post…but I need your help! So I have come to a dead end in some ways with my pole progress. I originally took lessons at a studio but have since had to stop because price raises and finances. I have been "self-taught" for quite some months. Now I am having trouble knowing what pole tricks I should be moving onto because I'm not always sure what transitions into what. I hurt myself early on because I inverted to early and am very cautious of trying new things before I feel ready now. I will list what I know and was hoping you all may have suggestions on some new things I could be working on based on my current ability. I would SO appreciate the help!

    *Most basic spins (fireman, pinwheel,
    *Reverse Grab
    *Chair Spins
    *CKR and CAR
    *Climb and Side Climb
    *Pole Sits/Advanced Plank/Wrist Sit
*Superman (Inconsistently b/c I'm a sissy with this one lol)
    *Basic Invert/Crucifix
    *Inverted V
    *Gemini
    *Scorpio
    *Pike/Hip Hold
    *Allegra
    *Butterfly/Extended Butterfly (Strong but New!)
    *Shoulder Mount/Shoulder V (New!)

I'm sure I've missed something in between but I think this gives a good generalization of where I'm at. Also, I am horrible with any elbow/hand stands. I for some reason have hurt myself more than once and am very scared of these moves. I hope to overcome that sometime, but not really a focus for me currently.

    Thanks everyone!

What about working on stringing together combinations or moves (if you haven't already)? Inside leg hang to inverted thigh hold to oppostite inside leg hang… also known as spinning scorpio. Outside leg hang to hip hold to inside leg hang to bracket hold v dismount out. Outside leg hang, climb over leg to hood ornament and then to teddy. Etc. Etc.

As far as new moves, I'd say cupid/princess is a likely candidate given what you already know/do. I like to get into mine from side climb or hood ornament but lots do it from outside leg hang.

CAR to bow and arrow is a possibility.

So are shooting star/jasmine and also marley.

Also: variations of climbs. Spinning climb, showgirl (aka one-legged) climb, no-legged climb.

    Beginning conditioning for caterpillar, maybe?

I find that "hitting the Wall" with pole for me, has alot to do with NOT having a SPOTTER when I need one for learning new moves. Try everything from the FLOOR first until you have adequate strength.   I'd follow recommendations from Veena or be sure to keep stretching and working on Strength training before trying new inverted holds and always from the floor first.

Polergirl, thanks so much for all of your suggestions. I think that working on combos is a really good idea for me as well as many of the new moves you have suggested. I've been apprehensive with a lot of the knee hold work because well, frankly, it hurts! LOL! But I guess it's time to earn some new battle wounds!

ThatGirl99, thanks also for your reccomendations. Luckily, my husband is finally home from a year long tour overseas and can help me with spotting! I'm grateful because that has definitely been a major setback for a lot of moves 😀
