I just got inside from a really awesome workout.I almost did the half pint…I hope I got the name right.Today is day 5 of pole.I basicly tried to pull myself up,but then turned it into a game.I jumped up,holding onto the pole and then tried to hold it.Somewhere around 25 I found I wasn’t using my feet to jump up.I was pulling myself up!!! I tried a fireman, but its pathetic.I am too scared to pull my feet up.I grabbed the pull, pulled my feet off the ground, and slid down onto my knees.I halfway did a crappie half-pint!!! How do I find out the names of the moves,as well as the ”standard”?I have been inspired by Felix Cane. Her video for winning pole-dance Australia was after she’d been learning for 8 months. That video was the second video I ever saw on poledancing…I’m still wondering if some of the things you do are humanly possible! I’m kinda wanting to cheat and find out how I’m going to advance. One last thing,my ”workouts” have been getting harder, but I haven’t been nearly as sore as the first time.Is this bad?

It's a good thing that you aren't getting as sore, it means your body is adapting to the workouts. The general rule to follow is to increase workout intensity by no more than 15% every two weeks so you counteract muscle memory to still get a good workout without risking injury. The moves have sooo many different names, but a good start is checking out poledancedictionary.com.

P.S. Congratulations on pulling yourself up! I am a beginner too and I love finally making progress on that too! 🙂

HI Polariz5. congrats on your great workout!!!

Here are some beginner tips and suggestions for ya. Please make sure to give your body a day off pole dance tricks after each session. This will help prevent overuse injuries. So MWF you would pole, and TTHS you would rest. I would suggest working on the Pole Hold without jumping though, for most pole moves the goal is to use control and avoid kicking, jumping or excessive swinging to perform moves. It all comes down to building strength with takes time, but it's so possible and totally worth it!

The fireman isn't easy, so don't feel discouraged by that! It is often thought of as one of the first move you should learn, but it's important to condition and strengthen the body before moving on to spins! Spins are not beginner moves.

If you are interest, and looking for guidance at home. I have a ton of info in the lessons here. I'll give you tips for how often to pole, as well as provide you with a structure to follow. All lessons are placed in order so there is no guess as to what to do next. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif
