Honestly I am very disturbed, for lack of a better word.  It's not even about race that makes me sad.  That was a young boy.  I have a 5 year old son and I would hate to think that someone murdered him because of an "assumption".  This man is a giant in size compared to Trayvon, and he was armed with a gun.  How could you feel threatened by a small teenager who is literally crying for help?  The police could not have prevented this tragedy from happening, but I do believe they had and STILL have a responsibilty to arrest George.  I'm really annoyed by the fact that we still have to create a big commotion over an issue  in order for justice to be served.

I feel Zimmerman should be held accountable. I can't believe that I could run after someone who is unarmed (after being advised by 911 not to pursue them) and shoot and kill them and have law enforcement be okay with it. Also I feel the same about what Diva said about creating a big issue otherwise there would be no justice.

Its SAD what the judicial system has come to!!! What irritates me most is the fact that his superiors are screaming "self defense" on his part and that "he did what needed to be done" . A mother has lost her child due due the IGNORANCE of some paranoid fool with the preconcieved notion that a CHILD walking around at night in a hoodie is CLEARLY up to no good. If that the case, then we should assume all cops are crooked cops! @Diva & CherishedI agree with you both….the only way to get justice is through a movement. I still think about the news segment on that boy who was in the college band and die after having been beaten with paddles during a hazzing. Had he lived, that college would have NEVER banned hazzing. Texting while driving wont be illegal until someone gets hit and dies!!! Worst of all school priciples wont do anything about bullying (both physical and cyber) until a child either commits suicide or comes to school with a gun and shoots the place up. They keep saying there's no sufficient "evidence" and therefore cannot charge Zimmerman, but judging by the 911 call and the phone conversation where Trayvon said he was being followed, I believe it should be evidence enough….thats just my opinion.https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif

Texting while driving is illegal hered in Kentucky and many other states because many people have died from it.

I think the guy that did this does need to go to jail because the cops TOLD him to back off and it was obvious the kid was unarmed and pleading for help.

I'm losing my mind over this.  I keep posting about it on twitter and facebook, I've signed two petitions and will sign any others that come along.  Stand your ground does not mean chase and gun down and that's what Zimmerman did.  He seriously needs to be indicted and tried.  This country needs him to be held accountable.  Trayvon Martin was killed in cold blood and it makes me crazy.

It’s just come out that he was on the phone with a friend when he was shot. The girl is stating that he told her that he was scared, that he was trying to evade someone who was following him. She’s stated that she heard his killer say “fucking coons!” over the phone. Then his killer claimed he shot the unarmed child in self-defense.

That he was murdered in cold blood is not in doubt. That his murder was motivated by the racism of his attacker is not in doubt. That his killer unjustly walks free is not in doubt. The question is whether the state will be held accountable for its negligent error in investigating the case, and whether Trayvon’s killer will EVER be subject to justice.

@ – I completely agree with you. I couldn't have said it better myself. Whether it's this case or another down the road, this will keep happening and no justice will be served unless we the people stand up for what we believe is right!

Yes everyone should do what they can so this does not get swept under the rug. My heart goes out to the victim's poor family. To add to the info about this guy, I read today that zimmerman seems to have a habit of claiming self defence. An article said that two of his exes accused him of assault on separate occasions and he claimed he needed to defend himself against them attacking him.

It is very sad indeed that racism still fuels violence, I deal with racist comments shouted out of windows and being turned away from looking at apts based on a once over in this area of the country but Florida is just as bad in some places. The problem is partially that no one wants to admit there is a problem, when someone brings it up no one wants to hear it. It's like they stick their fingers in their ears and sing as loud as they can hoping it will go away. It won't go away until horrible things like this keep happening and we choose to conscientiously evolve away from it. And is it just me or is our justice system is need of some kind of tremendous overhaul? Petition signed btw, and post anymore that you might have, please.

This story breaks my heart and makes me very angry at the same time. I feel sorry for Trayvons family. If I could get ahold of the suspect, I'd hand him over to the family and let them dish out his punishment!
