I have been out of the pole world loop, other than Studioveena, of course, for a few years now. My Personal life was my priority, I focused on the site, moving (several times) dealing with an injury, (not pole related) and spending time with my kids. I’ve been emotionally dealing with loss of loved ones and general life changes, and I’m sure most of you guys can relate to that! Instead of looking to add to my pole move repertoire I’ve spent my time the past 2 years hula hooping because it was physically less strenuous and meditative. I’m hoping now that I’m ready to grow as a pole dancer again! But I need your help!

So anyway, I’m way out of the loop as far as current moves, who to follow and so on. I’d love to start working on NEW things again! I’d love to know what I’ve missed over that past 2 years. Help!!!

The last few things I worked on were, Marion Amber, Titanic, and Machine gun.

Some YouTube channels I subscribe to for new tricks/inspiration:
sonicxplosion – I especially like the Threaded Archer and Spinning Icicle (these videos are linked in my video here titled, “Threaded Archer Spinning Icicle anyone?”
Tantra Fitness – digging the B Girl
Olga Koda and Kapi Huria do some fun stuff I can only dream of but I love to watch them.
Also enjoying Marlo’s flow movement channel. I’d like to try to incorporate some of her movements into a warm up or floor work if my life ever slows down and I can get back to pole. For now, I’m adding vids to my faces and enjoying watching what’s new.
    Have fun!

You’re welcome 🙂 also check out the Mantis on emotioncatcher’s channel. Kittyclimber and I love that one. With your bendy back, you will probably be able to reach back and grab your feet no problem. It will look gorgeous on you!

I’ve recently been enjoying working on some pop tricks like elbow grip aysha pop to cup grip (and the reverse but I can’t do that one yet), the pop from cup grip aysha down into flag, and a flag flip over to inside leg hang (Charley has a great example of that on youtube!). There are also a variety of one-armed handstands that are all the rage right now, twisted grip, cup grip, B girl. Marlo’s new trick is something I’m sure you could do, Bird of Paradise. It requires your awesome hamstring flexibility as well as shoulder flexibility. I’ve just been trying to hold it as the advanced yoga pose… it’s getting there.

I’m not the one who keeps myself most up to date but one name that has kept coming up is Carlie Hunter. I still haven’t checked her out myself, just seen people do her tricks and so.

If you’ll nail the Bird of Paradise I’ll congratulate you :). I just felt totally stuck and couldn’t do as it is one of those moves where your body is kind of twisted around the pole. I think I’d need a slimmer pole, so go for your 40 mm when trying it. It’s really beautiful though and has both and upright and an inverted variant.

Sailboat and Anastasia are two tricks that have been on everyone’s lips.

And now when hotelchick mentioned Kapi, I just have to link to her BOOM box-routine since I don’t think anyone can watch it without smiling:

Lina, I did try the Bird of Paradise the day I saw it, but didn’t have the flexibility. It will be something I should try on my 40 like you said. Let me know if you get it!

Thanks everyone. Today is a rest day but I’ll be trying some of these soon.
