Where to buy large mirrors
Posted by maurer rose on August 22, 2012 at 9:55 amDoes anyone have suggestions for how to save some money on large mirrors? I looked at the mirrors online at some home improvement store's website once and they were priceeeey. I don't need framed mirrors, I would just like to put them up on the walls as-is. The bigger they are, the better.
No one get excited, I'm not opening a studio. I just have a mirror addiction and want to put up mirrors in some of my rooms, particularly the room the pole is in.
Thanks!

Check craigslist and also look for companies that deal in selling off closed store displays. I have seen dressing room mirrors from time to time on craigslist. Another option is to go to one of the Habitat for Humanity Restores. Last option is sliding mirrored closet doors which can be had for about $100.

Stores like TJ Maxx and Home Goods usually have large mirrors on the cheap. They'll come framed, though. An option I've been considering is buying three or four of the over-the-door mirrors (like this http://www.walmart.com/ip/Mainstays-Beveled-Door-Mirror/21156245 ðŸ˜‰ that they sell so cheaply this time of year and just hanging them side by side.
When I was buying college stuff they were selling them at target for 4 bucks a pop, which is hard to argue with.

I had posted a discussion post on this a while ago and I got a great tip from PegasusAerialFitness. She mentioned some Home Depot mirrors.
I bought two of them and they have worked extremely well for me.

Thanks, chemgoddess, for the Craigslist tip! I found a mirror that's 84"x36" for only $45 (drool), now I just have to figure out the logistics of picking it up 🙂
Wow, keex, those Mirrorlite products are expensive!!

I got some pretty big ones at home depot that weren’t too expensive and I just had to press them against the wall while someone else screwed in the plastic holders

My hubby bought me a huge one for my birthday from a local glass company. Look of glass companies in your area, most likely they also make mirrors. Also, ask is they have an irregular size they can't use. We got a huge discount on a mirror that wasn't quite 6'x6'. I suspect they were making it for another job and didn't cut it correctly.

I found a relatively big mirror (maybe 2' x 4') at the Christmas Tree Shop for 20 dollars. I also bought a cheap easel from Office Max – the kind you'd put a presentation board on. I can position it wherever I need it to see the move I'm working on. It works pretty well for me! I'd love a floor to ceiling mirror, but I live in a rental. 🙂
