    Hey everybody,

It's been awhile since I've been on, I've come back to the community here and there but not as active as I was before. I've decided to wipe my slate clean and start over with everything in my fitness – my workouts, my diet etc. to be blunt, excuse have caused me to completely lose ALL my strength and stamina. I tried to workout today and was so discourged I could barely hold a basic pole hold…it seems I've thrown myself back to my first day with my pole. I feel as if I can't even do anything with my pole, I can barely do a push up on the floor! I guess I just want to ask some advice of where to start? I want to get serious with my workouts and clean up my diet – my boyfriend told me he notices how down I am and he knows that pole makes me happy so he said I need to make time for it and he's completely right, so I am going to start putting working out high on my priority list. I do have Veena's lessons, and Alethea Austins DVDs, also youtube popilates is definetely a go to as well. How can I keep on track without getting discouraged? Any tips/advice of getting my routine back in order?

Think of it as being back at begginers. You no the moves but dnt quite have the strenth. So start with the basics climb and spins and your strenth will get better. When you got stronger then work on staying on the pole doing moves for a minute the come off and have a rest. Then get bk on. After you feel comfortable for â minute on the pole make it one min thirty then rest. Have a look at sum basic strenth training to. You will soon be bk into it 🙂 xxx

I would definitely go easy on yourself and don't try to force moves your body is not ready to do yet, just as if you were starting from the beginning. In the mean time, spend a good amount of time doing strength work to build back up to your old moves, and the rest of the time, relax and see if you can't improve your DANCE and FLUIDITY!

Good luck! I know exactly how you feel and it can be really discouraging, but don't give up!!

Yes, start at the beginning. Watch all of the "getting started" lessons then go from there. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

That’s nice that your boyfriend is supporting your desire to get healthy.

I agree with “starting at the beginning” just to get back to where you were in pole. Sometimes when I feel like I’m tripping up on a move that should be simple, I will go back to my beginner DVDs/YouTube videos, so that I can get stronger at that stuff.

But, don’t beat yourself up if you slip up in terms of diet. Just remind yourself how it feels when you are eating well. I started following Clean Eating because it really is about teaching you to eat healthier. You don’t count calories or points. There is no special food to buy either. I recommend you look into it. I do allow myself to have a treat-day so that I don’t feel like binging on bad-for-me stuff.

As for keeping on track, have you considered writing in a pole and food journal? Just pick up an inexpensive notebook and (for food) write down everything that you eat (gum, coffee, treats too). You will notice more quickly what you shouldn’t be eating. With poling, keep track of your workouts and goals in a notebook too, to keep you motivated.

I have a fitness group on FB where I post daily dealing with fitness and nutrition. Our group is small (35 women, no men) and very motivational! Some women have lost 10 lbs since Oct 15th when we started our last challenge. You are more than welcome to join, it is a secret group where only the memebers can see and post, but it is free!! If you are interested, message me your email and I will send you or anyone else who is interested an invite.

Oh, I can SO relate!  I keep "starting over" on pole due to a variety of reasons, none of them particularly valid.  Once again I am going to head back to the basic strength and flexibility lessons on SV, work on a few very basic pole moves, and move forward from there. My fitness goals for the winter include a lot of running, yoga/pilates and pole.  Happy to be a motivation buddy https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif!
