Who wants to be my bendy buddy?
Posted by sosagely on June 29, 2010 at 3:23 pmI’m trying to get on a good stretching routine, but I lack motivation. I get bored, tired, etc. I was thinking that I should start a thread where people who also want to stretch can, and we can track our weekly/biweekly progress? If I had someone to "report" to, I think I would get more serious about it! So, I’m thinking we could all post our measurements (how many inches our center splits and side splits are…or whatever other body flexibility we are aiming for) and share what stretches we are doing. Plus, we can all motivate and encourage eachother.
Anyone want to do this? ‘
If so, please respond and add what body parts you would like to focus on.

If you wanted…. you could ask a few Veeners if they be interested in meeting in the chat room once a week or how ever often to stretch together!!! Cams or no cams it would still be fun and leave those who needed motivation feeling obligated to show up, therefore more likely to follow through. I like the weekly chat idea. I’d probably do it then. Though, I’m a bit apprehensive because I’m not that flexible to begin with so I don’t know if it’s even worth measuring my flexibility at this stage! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif

depending on when or if it is just a weekly check in thread i would love it. i do well being motivated and cheered on by others .im not flexy, never done the splits but would love to be able 2!

Veena! I was actually thinking of that after I wrote the post! Yes!!! I love it! I’ve been needing an excuse to buy a webcam too https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif I worry that I don’t have proper form when stretching (straight back, feet flexed, feet pointed, etc) so this would be extremely helpful for me.
I’m really not flexible right now either. I know I will be embarassed when I give my measurments, but I want to change that!
I don’t usually have time to do any kind of workout until at night when my husband is home from work and can keep our son busy, I’m sure we will be able to find a time that will work for most. -
What a creative idea. I’m also on the non-flexible side. Sometimes I just settle that I won’t be able to get near where I should be on stuff. On veena’s online lesson for side climb, it requires flexibility to get that leg up high on the pole to start and I’m no where able to do that https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif It would be fun and encouraging to meet with others regarding this and for motivation. I also don’t know how to start, measure, etc.

What we all have in common is that we’re all embarrassed about our lack of flexibility!
So let’s get over it — it’s not where we start (I’m 89 degrees short of a split myself) but that we progress — and Just Do It!!!
Does anyone have a recommended program?? -
i had printed out the 6 week plan-guide, i know it will take longer though, i also have the secrets to splits and flexability dvd ,im sure both are good, there is a test in the beginning that is also an exercise too in the six week guide-no pics , that im not sure i understand what it is supposed to look like…anyone know?

I’ve checked out the splits in 6 weeks thing, but reading it without pics was like https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_shaking.gif for me. I kept reading the test over and over and it just doesn’t make sense to me. I would love to get the splits in 6 weeks though! It would be worth adding those stretches to our list!
I took a stretching and flexibility workshop about a month ago, I have all the stretches she taught us written down, some of them feel so good! She told us to hold each stretch, breathing through it, for 2-5 minutes.
What nights/days work (or don’t work) for our chat/weekly check in? We will try to make it work for everyone!

thurs , fridays to a degree, sat am, sun am- just not 2 early lol. i wish i could have been to a workshop like that.

Me and David (Stellarmotion) have been corresponding about stretch sessions, maybe we can both get on one night, i def wouldnt mind a stretch partner for my legs, they are so boring to me lol
