Wide Angle Mod Kit for Video Cameras
I just found this and though that some of you might be interested. It is a magnetic modification kit for Flip cameras that gives you a wider angle (read, you an get more of your pole at a closer range). Looks like it could probably be used on other types of recorders as it is just a sticky ring that goes around the original lens.

If you are looking for a wider angle lens I would suggest not going with a Flip or any of the new compact style camcorders. Instead go to one of the more traditional style camcorders, they can be had for about the same price as a filp cam and as long as you find one that is threaded around the lens you’ll be able to attach a wide angle adapter that you can usually pick up for around $30.
