Wigs
Posted by Mikelirpa on January 14, 2013 at 6:23 amI always wear wigs. I have around 50. Love them. I am having a problem getting them to stay on when I invert. My pony tails and half and three quarter wigs are fine, but my full wigs slip. I have very thin natural hair, I have tried pinning them down, but doesn’t work, a dew rag ties around my head holds them on, but would like to figure out something else. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Do you use a wig cap? They definitely make a huge difference and aren't terribly expensive. Pull your hair back and make sure all the tiny stray hairs are under the wig cap, you can leave your ears in or out depending on the wig style but I leave mine out otherwise it drives me nuts. Make sure your wig cap is a similar colour to your wig also. Then put your wig on and I always bobby pin around my entire hairline for security. I have never had a wig fall off using this method (even during inverts).
I also like nylon wig caps better than mesh ones, they smoosh your natural hair down more 🙂

I use mesh caps but I will try the other ones, I will also try pinning it better. Thanks

I have a few wigs I use when I want long hair that isn't a crazy color. lol They all have 2 hooks on elastic that I tighten and they stay pretty well. However I have one that's really long so it's a bit heavy and I always wear an elastic headband to hold it. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

You could try bonding a lace wig to your hair. Look up lace wigs in Google! I sell them in the UK, they are fab!

Another solution is to sew a circular hair comb inside the edges of the wig. For some stupid reason I cut off all my beautiful long blonde hair a few months ago and now I wear a wig sometimes to remember how it felt to feel pretty. I can headstand with no slipping of the wig with the comb sewn in. I never tried a wig cap.

That is right I had forgotten about the circular combs. They were huge in the 80s. I used to have one that I wore under a wig. I will have to look for one. I sometimes make wigs. It would be easy to sew into a wig. Thanks.

I have been looking EVERYWHERE for those comb/headband things!!!!! 5 Below, Big Lots, Wal Mart, Dollar stores, CVS, etc. Its like they don't make them anymore. If anyone knows where to find them, please inform me!

Try a beauty supply store, that’s where I found mine.

Tried Sally's, no dice, BUT I found some on Amazon!!! The shipping is a little riddiculous (5 bucks for a 3 dollar item) but at least I will finally have them.
