Womans problems and poling……. help?
Posted by shanz15 on June 24, 2014 at 8:48 pmHi ladies,
so this is a bit of an awkward question but figured this would be a great place to ask. What do you do when its “that time of the month”? do you still pole or stop for that time period? I ask because i am feeling very guilty and dont know what to do…. I was meant to be training tonight and practicing my routine for a comp in a month, but due to these womanly issues…… booty shorts dont really feel like the best choice of clothing at the moment, i feel guilty for not going, but just wondered do you guys still pole or know any way around this??Phoenix Hunter replied 10 years, 4 months ago 18 Members · 19 Replies -

I wear longer shorts, or if I don’t have longer shorts ready to go, I wear two sets of underpants underneath my shorts.

You are lucky to take a break! As a studio owner and instructor I typically teach back to back classes during my lady time. I have worn a diva cup for 2 years and would NEVER go back to other products! It has been a life saver!

I use a Lady Cup and I second that menstrual cups are a total lifesaver. When I had a copper IUD I’d take off one day when I bled *really* heavily. I’m talking emptying the cup every hour. Otherwise I just make sure it’s emptied out and sitting well before class and do everything else as normal.
Don’t feel guilty for missing a night. You have to be comfortable and confident and if for you that means not poling when it’s that time of the month then that is totally fine! -
I second on menstrual cup!! I LOVE my Mooncup!! Now I don’t even thinking twice about my period.
My cat got a fetish with my cup…he destroyed THREE already…but, id been keep on buying new one to replace the one my cat damaged even though they can get pricy. (Normally a cup can last you 4-5 years…I just got a weird cat.,,he even learned to open my drawer THEN open the box where I keep my menstrual cup…creepy huh??)
I will never pole during my period if I don’t have my cup…
Give it a go…you’ll love it~~

I don’t really do anything differently. I still wear the same length shorts and exercise as per usual (being more aware of tiring myself out or muscular strain as well as stretching). As far as equipment, I use pads, though I’ve been looking into getting a menstrual cup, so it’s cool to see that other people use them too!

It’s rare that I let Aunt Flo interrupt my pole relation… Heck she interrupts all of my others, mine and my husbands, mine and my diet. I wear panties under my shorts while poling (normally I don’t) and a panty liner. I take a Motrin for cramps whether I pole or not.
-
I usually step away from the pole for a few days and focus on my flexibility. I tried the whole “pole while the lady’s in town” thing but it felt too awkward for me.

It’s so funny that I came across this because today y’all is my first day on my diva cup and I have to say I had no problems at all. They are amazing and it’s like why didn’t I hear about this before. And I feel much safer about poling that no little string will pop out. The diva cup has become my new best gf.
For the girls that don’t know just google diva cup or moon cup. But it’s like a little dome empty half egg shell cup, soft rubbery that you just insert and what I love is that you don’t have to be changing it every few hours like a pad/ tampon but maybe twice a day.
-
I have trouble inserting tampons and wearing them, hence im a little worried about weather il ever be able to actually have sex! So im not sure if the moon cup would work or not?
-
Poling, swimming, all fine with my
Moon cup. And no more money wasted on tampons and towels that clog up drains and rivers and seas and landfill. In the UK towels and tampons are classed as luxury items and taxed accordingly! :-/
Plus bonus physio fact: if any ladies sometimes find they have trouble needing to pee urgently during high impact or endurance exercise – road running, trampolining etc – very common after childbirth – wearing a mooncup or similar will support/brace the pelvic floor whilst doing heavy impact exercise.Obviously, just use it during the exercise and remove and cleanse straight after – spot of ky if needed to insert.
This training tip is endorsed by my OB/GYN, my doctor, who’s a triathlete mother of 3 and my physio, a Pilates and marathon enthusiast in her spare time.
So many women give up exercise after childbirth because of embarrassment caused by weak/injured pelvic floor muscles. 🙁
Aside from doing your kegels, I wish more women knew about cups for support in training as well as time of month. -
Been using the cup for years and years; before it was popular and you had to buy them directly from the manufacturer… will never ever go back and I have introduced all my lady friends to this fantastic invention 🙂 No issues at all poling while using it 😉

I bought a menstrual cup last month and I think it is the best solution for ‘that time of the month’ and poling:)

Here’s a post we had a while ago where you can have tons of info on mentrual cup.https://www.studioveena.com/forums/view/2726 Personnally i don’t need it much now but had use it for over 5 years and would never go back. As for poling during that time of the month, I do feel beurk sometime but it usually don’t stop me.

I generally don’t care, as I dance alone in my house. Often I can still wear my shorts (they aren’t super small, though, so that helps) and a pad. I’m uncomfortable with having things “up there” if they can get “lost,” and I’m a bit paranoid, so no tampons or menstrual cups for me.
I will say this, though: cramps and lowered pain tolerance do tend to dampen my “enthusiasm” for trying new and more difficult moves. My dancing during my lady time is more for me to maintain strength, rather than increase it.
