I have a Mirena (IUD, not the copper one though) and I’m in the lucky group of women who stop having periods (for the most part) with Mirena. It’s awesome. I never ever want to go back. Every once in a while – like a few times a year – I might get a couple of days of spotting. But even before my Mirena, I always would just pole with a tampon, maybe stay away from my tiniest pole shorts. Other than that though, it never really bothered me, I’d kind of tuck the string away and most of my pole shorts have tight enough seams on the inside of the thighs/crotch so it hasn’t been much of a concern that the string might fall out. Having said that, I’m pretty laid back and able to laugh at myself, so if it did, I think I’d be able to laugh it off pretty well, with only minor embarrassment haha

Mirena for me too, it’s the best. Love not having to worry about periods at all. 🙂

Also might check out Dear Kates underwear online. They suggest using whatever other protection for “that time” but extra reassurance or emergency protection sounds nice and looks like they will have yoga pants/shorts soon too.

Dear Kates sounds like a good alternative, especially since she is unable to wear a tampon. a menstrual cup might be more difficult to wear if you have problems with tampons. good idea Tigerschic!
