  • Won’t be poling for a while…what can I do??

I am going to visit family with my daughter very soon, and will be gone about a month and a half (killing time & getting some family time in before my husband gets home from deployment). I am pretty bummed that that's a month and a half that I will be off of the pole, when I'm only about a month into it. I plan on going to the gym every day, or at least every other day, because I'd like to keep building muscle & toning! :). I really would hate to get back here & lose everything I have learned so far. So, is there any specific things I can do (besides being on a pole of course!) to help me out, so when I do get back home I won't struggle with gaining strength again or continuing where I left off?

I would say continue to work on core strength for sure and you really can never get enough flexy training (but that one is my bias lol). Also try to continue to improve your grip strength of your legs (those hip adductor/abductor machines might be good, although if you accomplish this w/o a machine that's probably better). You might want to buy those hand-held grip strengthening balls/loops or squeeze a tennis ball for hand strength as well. These are all areas I personally am struggling badly with after being sick and inactive for almost 3 months, HTH!

I definitely second the working on core, arm and hand strength as well as flexibility training/conditioning while you can't pole. Know though that even if you do work on these things, it will still take a week or two probably to get back into the swing of things but it will help immensely if you can keep your strength up and/or improve your strength and stamina while not able to pole.

Have a good trip! Hope you post another progress vid before you leave town 😉

This discussion is helpful for me too. Ill be on a couple beach vacations this summer. It is helpful to know what I can do that would help with poling until I’m back home if I can’t find a studio near our vacation spots.

I noticed a huge difference in my pole strength when I started going to the gym and training my arms and core (trained legs too but didn't notice it as much on the pole). I would do maybe a day of back/bicep, a day of chest/tricep, a day of shoulder/abs, and a day of legs.

Can you possibly visit a pole studio or two while you are away and drop in to do some casual lessons?
That way you can still get a pole fix and some "me" time! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
