Hey everyone! So now that my competition is over I get to work on new stuff for fun again! 🙂 I remember long ago… in a bar in Columbus… I watched David C. Owen get one of his first eagles. He was so excited and I was taking pictures for him. I remember thinking, there is NO freaking way I'll ever even try that move. And now here I am… taking the attempt of this move seriously! http://prowesspolefitness.files.wordpress.com/2011/07/hcb_0082.jpg

So does anyone have any suggestions? I can do a cocoon, I can do a standing scorpion if I'm up against a wall or the pole. I figured I'd start by putting a yoga strap around my ankle and trying to get my foot that way. Or does anyone have some good videos showing how to get the foot up there? I've seen a couple different ways and I think I can tell which one to start with but I'd love suggestions from anyone who can actually do this move. My goal is to be able to at least get my foot in my hands without the help from a strap by Christmas!

Lindsay Green taught me how to do Eagle/Music Box. You should shoot her a message on YouTube. I have a video on my music box. It’s a shoulder mobility thing, not a back flexibility thing. I started in heels but you could definitely do it with a yoga strap. Eagles entry is a little different. Instead of sweeping around from a climb into twisted ballerina reach back and grab the put that is resting against a pole and pull it up behind your head. Like I said, Lindsay would have a better explanation

I've always wondered as well, isnt it also a hip/leg flexibility thing because you need to get your legs to spread wide enough, almost like a split?

@capfeb do you take the intermediate classes at prowess? I’m coming back next month it’d be fun to know someone in class 🙂 I’m trying to get this move too! I’ve got the flexibility for it just trying to figure out getting into it

@Dulce I’m an adv student sparingly there. I Live in almost Surprise and my income is only through dancing, so while Lindsay offers affordable classes, it costs me $20 in gas to get there. Close to $50 for one class isn’t something I can do often, and obviously series classes are out of the question since I have to take off work to go there. But maybe I’ll see you at an open pole some time 🙂
