What’s the best way to work up to doing the Gemini? I’ve been trying to do it from the floor, just lifting my hips up as high as I can and then hooking the leg, but that doesn’t really put enough weight on my leg, so I can’t develop the muscles or skin very well. Also, how do I make sure my leg is in the right place without using my hands? When I put it into position, my calf usually gets caught and pulled, and I don’t think that’s right. (I would look up the Veena lesson, but at the moment I can’t afford lessons.)

Its very important that you have a strong invert (the knees must come up past your hands when you invert) If you can not invert with control (no kicking or pulling up with your toes) yet wait. Also remember you don’t have to buy the 99 dollar lessons. I think the 20 or 35 dollar options are a great deal for those on a budget. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

And 100% worth it too! Even if you can’t do the whole year just to have them for a month or two is great!

Of course you were right, Veena! I’ve had to take several days off from practice (it’s tech week for the play I’m in!!), and I hopped back on the pole today. Out of nowhere, I could do the inverted V a million times better than ever before–I noticed that the form felt perfect. So I tried the Gemini, and then just let go…and there it was!

    HOORAY!
