So after religiously reading the health and fitness forums and continuously reading that pole is a form of strength training and should be staggered. I do agree with that, unless you are just dancing around it for cardio. It got me thinking. I try to do a bikram yoga flow daily if not at least 5 times a week. In bikram it is not uncommon to take inverts, though that is not the majority of the practice. Yoga is known for some strength training benefits along with building ones flexibility. Is this something that I should be taking a break from like pole, even though it is not as strenuous? I am just curious to see what others think https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif . Also it got me thinking about swimming, even though it is considered cardio wouldnt it also be strength training. This of course opened a pandora’s box within my own mind https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_shaking2.gif
    Cheers,
    Jessie

I would never consider swimming as strength training, nor would I consider yoga as such. Strength training uses resistance to build strength, endurance and size. If I swim every day I really do not think that I would gain huge muscles nor have I ever seen someone get "huge" from daily yoga.

In pole I never started gaining until I started inverting, and mainly I am pushing/pulling 150 lbs over my head regularly. At some point in time I will stop gaining and probably maintain, unless you take into account different weights of shoes.

A lot of swimmers gain a lot of upperbody. The water offers the resistance. As far as yoga it uses the principle of using your own body weight as resistance much like pole. Also a lot of pole routines can be broken down in a yoga flow. So I thought I would ask. Also
A lot of yogis I know do yoga alone and have developed a lot of lean muscle. :-p.
