I moved into a third floor apartment (top floor) and want to install a permanent flat mount. I heard the top floor may have smaller studs since it doesn’t have to support a floor above. Does anyone know the minimum stud width to put in permanent mount? The plate is 4×6 so it looks like the screw holes are about 2 inches apart.

Hi there, the block mount is 4×7. If the stud or beam is not wide enough to completely hold the block mount you can get a piece of 4×7, 1-2 inch thick plywood and drill that to the beam, and then drill the block mount to the plywood. The wood would reinforce the beam. If you have any other questions please feel free to send us an email at info@xpoleus.com

That is exactly what I did to my mount. I LOVE IT! It is so secure and easy to put up and down…..
