Hi all, i have a small studio/ cabin in the bottom of my garden which I have had a 45mm X pole fitted for the last two years.. sometimes when I train, i find the x pole so slippery ( like glass) i try warming up the pole first and this helps a little but not much. Sometimes doing simple tricks like forward pole stands is impossible!!! Very frustrating!!! I try mighty grip and spraying the pole with hairspray which sometimes helps, i also clean it with cheap vodka or glass spray. Any advice would be appreciated. 🙂

Home poles seem to be very picky about temperature and humidity. I have found sometimes my chrome pole will literally sweat (from humidity), making it IMPOSSIBLE to do anything at all and other times I’m stuck to the thing like glue and I’m unable to spin, or slide on it. I steam cleaned mine recently and I think it helped quite a bit, but weather will always have a huge impact on mine because it isn’t in a temp controlled location. I would suggest steaming it every once in a while and using grip aids. I personally haven’t found the “cure all” for slippery poles, but keeping the temp and humidity levels where ever your pole likes them to be helps tremendously.

Do you know of anyone that might offer a powder grip coating in the uk?

I don’t, but I am positive someone here will be able to point you in the right direction. I’m thinking my next pole will be powder coated. Good luck!

Just a note….powder coat + humidity is not a good combo.

@chem– Oh, then I definitely should think about other options. Thank you!
