I absolutely love both poles, I have to say that they are the two best made poles out there in my opinion! But there are advantages and disadvantages to both…

I’ll start with Xpole… The biggest disadvantage that I personally have issues with are the bolts. I’ll be dancing on my pole in static mode and the bolts will come loose and it will turn half an inch and I’ll have to keep re tightening it over and over again. Completely throws me off, but I love the polish and the grip on the xpole, I also don’t like how the ceiling piece domes downward, its makes it hard to do a deathlay and I wouldn’t recommend it anyway unless you got screws for the cover piece! Those little buttons just don’t suffice on their own. I had to get screws at Home depot because they don’t come with them when you order it.

The platinum stages pole is awesome as well, I find the grip a little harder, it seems more slippery. I like the top piece a little better because it doesn’t dome as much as the xpole making it easier to do a death lay but its also smaller in circumference which would be bad if your studs were wider on the ceiling. I like the pin idea on the platinum stages pole… Much more convenient than Xpoles bolts!

The biggest problem with the pin is really if you have kids cause kids love to grab the pin and run with it but unlike the xpole, once that pin is in its not spinning anywhere.

Both are great poles however. I personally own an Xpole, my sister owns a platinum stages so thats where I got this info from lol from my own experience and powers of observation.

Thanks for the very descriptive review! I am sure many prospective pole buyers will find this post extremely helpful. I also own an Xpole, and find it grippier than my friend’s PS pole, but I wish the Xpole converted to spin mode like PS does. That way I could change modes mid-song. With Xpole, you have to actually stop, get the allen wrench out and unscrew the those little bolts, where as PS, is so simple you could do it easily without anyone noticing. Oh well, maybe someday Xpole will upgrade their design.

I’m bumping this thread – does anyone has experience with the Platinum Stages ‘Skinny’ (1.75") pole?

I had posted on here previously that I started with an X-pole…..and it turns out I’m a total dumbass it was actually a Platinum Stages pole…..sorry, I have no idea why I thought it was X-pole!

My friend and I went in together on it, and purchased it directly from the dancer we’d been taking lessons from, a 2-inch removable pole for $420…..looking on their website their most expensive removable pole is $329, so I am confused right now as to which of their poles we purchased, Regardless, it’s really been a fantastic pole – super sturdy and secure, my only complaint is the slippery grip and the wide circumference.

I ended up buying the Bobbi’s Pole which I LOVE LOVE LOVE – it’s beautiful brass and super skinny at 1.5 inches. The only problem with it is the price, at $900 it’s pretty outrageous. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif

SO, another friend is now wanting a pole, YAY! she loves the skinnier width too and is about to purchase the PS ‘Skinny’ pole for $299, but I have some reservations about it. The PS pole I bought specifically says on the packaging ‘NOT for people over 200 pounds’ and ‘Do NOT invert your body’. It’s the exact same pole the dancer I was taking lessons from uses all the time, she’s a big fan of PS and is really incredible on the pole – she does tons of inverts all the time. She also does alot of drag shows and takes her poles, she says she has 250lb+ drag queens up on it all the time and has never had a problem. So, that makes me want to trust it and give their skinny pole a try…..but I really dislike that on their website they describe their poles as ‘stripper’ poles, and of course the warnings on the one I bought are worrisome, it obviously does not seem intended for hard-core pole dancing.

For the additional $30, I am really thinking I should steer her towards a 45mm X-pole. I just thought I would check here to see if I could find any personal reviews on the 45mm PS pole. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

Veena I only see options for titanium and chrome on your site – can the GOLD titanium 45mm be ordered through you?

Lily, the titanium is the Gold! Thats why you’ll here people call it the (TG titanium gold) and you can get it in the "skinny" 45mm! My first pole was a PS pole and I didn’t care for it but I know some people do like them. I had the permanent kind but I didn’t care for the stainless steel finish. The x pole is a great value for the home poler. I’m the only one that I’m aware of offering free shipping in the US and we sell our poles at a very reasonable price. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

SWEET! Thank you, I am definitely going to encourage her to go with it over the PS, the price is so close and all the positive reviews of the X-Pole are too convincing.

My vote is for the x-pole 45mm, we have 2 for the studio, although one isn’t up as it’s a travelling pole.

What I do like about Xpole is the responsiveness to issues.
I FB’d* Stacey re getting a replacement bearing for the dome, ie could it be done and they’re happy to send me another. I know I’m not the only one either who has had great response from them.
PS aren’t very big in NZ, Elite is the only other reputable company here. However, most girls go for x-pole once they’ve tried them out.
My vote is the X. Good quality and my husband who trained as a mechanical engineer thinks they’re very well designed and sturdy.
I use stainless as well and swap easily between them.

X-pole also make a 42mm, if you need something smaller, Veena can confirm if you can get that in the US.

X pole US sells Chrome and Titanium Gold, 45mm and 50mm that’s it for us over here. When I spoke with Stacey at the trade show over here it sounded like you guys have the biggest selection for X pole finishes and sizes…lucky https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

I go through phases with my poles – I have the X up right now and am loving it. I find the smaller diameter much easier and I think the chrome is stickier than the stainless.

I would encourage anyone who plans to dance at night clubs or in public venues to invest in a 2” stainless pole – it’s the standard diameter and if you can dance on stainless – you can dance on anything. I only use PS poles if I am working with an exotic dancer and they’ve been thankful since most clubs have either stainless or brass.

I really like the smooth finish of the PS pole – I can do drops so easily and quick manuvres without sticking. For spins, transitions and elbow grips I love the X pole. I like the smaller ceiling plate on the PS pole and it’s very easy to go from static to spin (just pull a pin) you can do it in the middle of a routine and it’s a seamless transition.

X is better in the winter and my PS is better in summer.

So what is Xpole made of that PS isn’t, that makes X less slippery?

I’m guessing your PS is better in summer because it’s stainless, which is slippery as hell when cold. No?

I find that the chrome is stickier – so in the winter when it’s dry and cold I can still stick…many times with PS no matter how much I work it – it just doesn’t heat up. Stainless is awesome when there is humidity – you stick right to it yet its smooth enough to do quick moves without sticking too much. X-pole on the other hand I stick too much to in summer and can’t do quick flip arounds the way I’d like.

You just summed up my entire winter. Not only does the pole not ever warm up – I have a stainless steel, but not PS (it’s a LM), but my hands never warm up at all, either. A horrid combination resulting in pathetic pole sessions. So glad the weather is heating up!

I love my PS pole! But I’ve NEVER had sweaty-hand issues, so that may be the deal. I like how you can use an xpole fresh out of the box! You can use the PS out of the box, it’s just SO slippy. Mine was conditioned at the top and middle in no time- the bottom took longer, as I wasn’t doing many inverts or holds that needed the bottom of the pole. Even now, it’s considerably less tacky than the top.

In the winter, with my PS- I usually rub a candle against it. I don’t feel bad about using that particular grip aid because at leaaaast I’m dancing. If my grip suffers, I’ll handle it in the spring. So far, though, it seems just as strong as it was before winter.

Next time I want to get brraaaaass. Titgold looks lovely, but I’m more fond of brass. I’ll get a permanent spinner from PS, probably.

Or maybe I’ll get a titanium gold. Who knows.

I’ve not tried the candle bit – I’ve wondered if it cleaned up.

Brass is next on my list too https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

I am so afraid to be spoiled by brass.

The TG poles are great too. I was actually considering a TG45 – may still get one…
