  • X-poles with black domes – old (~2007) or fake?

Posted by digit on May 2, 2012 at 6:35 pm

    Hi all –

I'm considering buying a used x-pole off of craigslist – I believe the piece of rubber on the top of the dome is black. I've read that this is a sign of a knockoff, but this pole is supposedly purchased new in 2007. Was black rubber used at any time in x-pole's manufacturing history?

    Thanks for your help!

Lots of very useful info here: https://www.studioveena.com/forums/view/91

Mainly look for the x's and the serial number on the dome.  Make sure that the person has the tools and you can get the pieces apart.

Honestly, I would email X-pole for the exact specs on what the original model should have/look like. thats your best bet.

X-Pole has never used black rubber on the top upper dome or the base. All production, since day one, has used opaque silicone to limit marking the ceiling.

Please email photos or the link of the product to your local X-Pole office and they will advise if the product you are looking to buy is a genuine X-Pole or a fake.

    Best Regards

Thanks so much X Pole Tech….the seller found other pieces of evidence that the pole is not genuine, which I think surprised her. I think I will be buying a new pole to limit this type of confusion!
