I wanted to get a few opinions from people who go to studios. Is wearing underwear, like solid-colored, opaque boy short underwear that covers everything considered unacceptable because it’s officially underwear? Let’s be honest, many $45 yoga shorts or pole shorts are not that different in fit and material as regular $10 boy short underwear you can get at Target. Is it just acceptable because they are labelled “yoga shorts?” If I slapped a “yoga shorts” label on a pair of boy short underwear would anyone even know the difference?

I think wearing undergarments under them makes them more shorts than underwear. If you can wear a thong under them then I’d consider them appropriate to wear to a studio.. I’m sure there are a few exceptions, but most I think would be ok.

The bad kitty shorts are much thicker and sturdier than underwear and they are like $20 not 40… And I love them.

@AllysonKendal thank you, that’s good to know.

No problem. My studio is pretty relaxed. But I still personally wouldn’t feel comfortable with 1 layer on. that’s just me though. Boy short underwear over a thong is fine.

Also Walmart (and I hate going to Walmart) actually has cute side tie shorts for $5. I have a few pairs: red pink, green and some black ones with a blue waistband.

Thanks. I don’t mind spending the money for something that fits me well, but I’ve had fit problems even with more expensive shorts.

I think it’s more about keeping sweat in check, while pole bottoms look like underwear, most are better at wicking sweat away than just underwear on its own. Plus you can wear underwear or a thong under pole bottoms. However, at home I’ve used underwear a LOT because I love the fit! Some of my favorite told and bottoms are Target bikinis! 👙

I usually find that underwear is made of different materials that are thicker and fit a bit different.
Of course, all the underwear that I can find that I both like and fit into appropriately basically is made of sheer material that breaks apart in about a month. >_> ugh!

I just re-read what I wrote and realized that I should say POLE wear is thicker and fits different~!
Blame it on my cold-fogged brain.

Some of my pole bottoms ARE underwear (but I don’t go to a studio and sometimes still wear a thing under them) but they are “active” underwear soecifically made to stay in place and wick away sweat. They’ve ended up being some of my faves CUZ my cheap foldover shorts from Amazon have started to lose shape over time (not all of them though and they are all from the same brand/company so I’m not sure why). Plus the shorts are cotton and dont wick away sweat. I covet bad kitty shorts so much but not enough of them are ever in stock at the same time to feel like they are worth ordering 🙁
