Can someone please give me some tips on how to get a hold of that other leg? Today was the first time ever attempting the Yogini so Im happy that I was able to do what I did today. I'd like to get both oof them once my bruise heals….   I have a photo of my attempt in my album "pole love".

Congrats! I'm too much of a pain wuss to even try a yogini.

All the leg grabbing stuff seems to be about hip flexor and back flexibility, and also strength, I guess. As someone who really lacks back flexibility despite my best efforts, it find the easiest thing to do is to bend my heel right to my butt like a quad stretch, grab it there and then extend out. Other people might have some more "correct" advice to give, but that's what works for me 🙂

I am currently struggling with this issue for the Yogini as well. I have teh flexibilty but lack the back and leg strength to lift my leg higher. I was told to try the Bow yoga position. I have also been laying on my stomach and stretching my legs out straight and lifting them.

I second the recommendation for trying yoga’s bow pose- I find the lock comes more from the ‘bowing’ of your legs than just grabbing them per se. So think if you were on the ground, you’re not just having hand meet ankle then leaving thighs limply on the ground, you’re engaging your whole leg and trying to lift your thighs as well, while pushing your ankles strongly into your hands. What works for me anyway!:)

Congrats Blaque DIamond! Its a painful position for sure. Aerial Amy has a Yogini tutorial on her blog. My only advice is to try it from standing up…and make sure you still have a crash mat under you. I've fallen hard and landed on my kneecaps many times working on this :/
