If it's any comfort, I just got my shoulder mount from the floor (and can't get it every single time, like if I'm too tired), and I've been poling for two years come August. So for as short of time as you have been doing this, it sounds like you have come very far!

I would recommend taking a look at the Studio Veena lessons to learn the beginner and intermediate moves you may have skipped before worrying too much about shoulder mounts and the more advanced tricks. It's easy to get caught up in wanting to do everything that you see in other people's videos online and all that, but just remember that we all learn at different paces, and that there is nothing wrong with taking your time and making sure you know all the basics really well first 🙂 Good luck!

I agree with NinaPoles – the strength required for things like an aerial v shoulder mount and boomerang hold takes time – and rushing into advanced moves can mean you don't learn the fundamentals properly (speaking from experience). 🙂 Let yourself off the hook a little, and work on making sure everything you can do you do with absolute control the whole way, and that will help strengthen you towards other moves. Doing pull ups and benches are great – and that is a wonderful achievement! 🙂 However things like shoulder mounts take a lot of core, especially to do it controlled. You are doing really well with how far you have come, don't rush yourself 🙂

Ty..I’m feeling better…its been 10 years and 3 kids later since i last poled…i guess i should be more happy about the accoplishments I’ve made instead of rushing…i thought i was strong enough for at least an Aerial v…but back to revamping my workout and perfecting my beginner moves..id love to do the SV lessons but i only have my lil phone for internet :/

Even if you can't view the lessons, you can always take a look at the lessons page to see which tricks are considered which level, and go from there 🙂

Hi cupcakejenea, everyone has great suggestions! If you happen to have a smart phone the lessons can be viewed on most of them!

As others suggested I would focus on building strength, then move on the more advanced work like V inverts and split grips. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif
