Hello ladies:) I had taken a long break from attending classes due to financial hardship AND schedule conflicts. While on this break I kept getting on my pole at home but only from time to time and for short periods of time because its very slippery when cold and it sits by an AC vent. Well.. now that I am going again once a week I find that my chopper is horrible on the 50mm, I do it well on my 45mm at home. I also cannot invert on my weak side at the studio, can do it at home but I don’t look very graceful :(. Are there things that I should be doing at home that can help me invert better on the wider pole at the studio? Just wondering…a litte frustrated :/

I also have a 50mm in the studio and a 45mm at home. My hands are fairly small, so I prefer the 45, and I struggle with any hand-grip-only moves that we do in class. The only thing that seems to help is grip aid (tite grip and dry hands), and strengthening my grip. I find that I can do some things I couldn’t at first on the 50 now, but I still have a ways to go before the 50 feels secure. Split grip is especially hard on a 50 for me. I can do an elbow straight edge with no problem, but I have yet to do a split grip straight edge on a 50. On the other side, there are things I like better on a 50, such as the knee hold.

I love the 50mm for moves that require me to hold on to the pole with my legs! Anything that requires hand grip is more difficult. I need to find ways to maybe strengthen my grip.
