aerial ‘spin’ down the pole
Posted by Krista Bocko on December 6, 2012 at 11:53 amDid I see this in a video once? I swear I did. Seems like, from a pole sit or hold up on the pole, you swing the legs forward, then back for momentum, and move to one side of the pole and float/spin down. I was trying to brace my inside forearm against the pole for stability but wondered if I'm even doing it right.
Does this make any sense even?

YES….I had posted this a while back. It was a Wendy Traskos video and I know that Mary Ellyn had commented on it. Let me see if I can track down the thread.

Here is the thread but I guess she does a knee hook down. The links are broken since it is so old and I cannot look on YT because of it being blocked at work. Is this maybe what you were talking about?

Thanks Chem! That is a different one than I saw…I'm thinking the one I was visualizing was forward BUT I am gonna give that one a go!!

I do one where you climb, get into a hold like you’re going to invert but then fan kick, while turning your torso into the pole – that will make you spin down the pole! Give it a try 🙂

These are my favorite!! I love creating momentum on static poles 🙂 you can also do them from Gemini climb overs, from a stand (like an invert on spiny pole) … Into front or back hooks, tuck spins, and of course into spinning aerial choppers. FUN!!!

I don't think that's what I saw, but I LOVE that…and I love that dance, wow! I'm going to try it…Thanks for sharing 🙂

Something like this?? There are different variations on that move, but that's what came to mind when you said swinging the legs forward and spinning into the pole.

She doesn't spin in the video, but I'm sure you could if you wanted to.

I'm not sure if this could be what you had in mind but here another example of spiraling down at 1:20

Also this vid has some pretty cool spins downwards (different from what you described originally) at 2:10 and 2:55

I'm diggin this discussion topic! I'm always looking for unique dismounts, so many pretty options to try out. Please post more! =)

Sparrow's original description sounds like a dismount I learned at B&P. I use it in the middle of my May 2012 Challenge video on a spinny pole, but it can be done on static too (I learned it that way, actually). Is that the move you're asking about?
