    Hi all,
My apologies for starting another thread regarding finishes- I have checked the older threads but I keep finding conflicting info, so I figured I would just ask the specific questions I have in the hope that I can get some insight from you all 🙂
Basically my chrome pole and I have a very temperamental relationship so I am really thinking I will have to invest in a brass insert if they’re still available when I get my tax rebate in July. Unfortunately they might be out of stock by then so I’m also looking at the powder coated x-poles.

To be honest, as much as I love my tattoos and workboots (I’m a bit of a tomboy) I also love purples and hot pink and x-pole have a pretty damn cute looking hot pink pole, but I can’t find much info about the sort of grip it has.
I assume it’s grippier than chrome but I am a heavy sweater (haha, sounds like I’m talking about a jumper) and have read that powder coating can pose a problem by becoming very slick if a person is sweaty, which would make them a waste of time for me, so I’d rather know now than later.

And of course there is always the option of getting my chrome pole powder coated if it works out to be cost effective, but I’m not too sure how that would work here in Australia where things that may be cheap in other countries can be very pricey here.

So, are there any Aussie gals here who have had their chrome poles powder coated? And do you think powder coated is a good balance between the lovely gripiness of brass and the slipperiness of chrome for someone who is naturally sweaty?

TIA yet again for any help, this forum is awesome and you’ve all been very helpful already

I haven’t done it, but was thinking about it because my chrome pole rusted. I’m interested in what people have to say about that if anyone’s had it done.
Most poles at playgrounds, on trains, handrails etc are powder coated! If they’re funky colours (yellow, blue etc) then they’re powder coated – so you can get some idea of how grippy they are.

Hi Michaela (hope I spelled that right) I love your user name, reminds me of Monty Python and the Holy Grail 🙂
I emailed a place down where I live and was quoted only $40 which first piqued my interest and then made me really suss… I am always a bit leery of good news 😉
I’m going to give them a call and see what they say, I am not sure if I can get different types of finishes that might be slicker or more grippy, but I’ll let you know if there are those sorts of options.
I do know a lot of what I’m facing wrt grip is down to not having that strength like I used to but I definitely struggle more on chrome than I do on brass.
And there’s definitely a part of me wants to get it powder coated simply because it will look amazing (plus I live in a coastal town so the air here is pretty corrosive too).
But I don’t want to end up with a pole that is super grippy until I start to sweat and then start slipping all over the place.
I’m thinking maybe I should wait until June/July and see if I can still snag a brass pole insert, otherwise I will definitely look at getting my chrome pole coated… either lime green or purple, IDK which yet but am leaning towards purple because hey! it’s an awesome colour! 😀
Either way I’m going to ring around and get some more quotes so I’ll let you know how that all goes 🙂
    Em x

Just wanted to add I called a couple of other places and between $40-80 depending on the colour is what it costs around here to powder coat a chrome pole that is around 2550mm long (3 sections).
I’m stoked, it’s a lot cheaper than I thought it would be, so good news for us Aussie gals 🙂
