Please, suggestions for improving back flexibility, so I can get more of an arch.  I've been doing some yoga — cat/cow, down/up dog — but I'm afraid that pushing the arch will compress the disks.  I'm basically not flexy to begin with, but I've had some gradual improvements with other stretches, I just have no clue how to approach this.

Back bends, cobra pose & plow exercise (will also strengthen your core for shouldermounts)

If you have disc issues you should talk with your dr about back exercise that are sutable for you. If you have a healthy back, you shouldn’t have a problem with stretches that use extention.

Have you tried using any of the stretches for the back in the lessons or the back mobility routine?

V, I shoulda looked in the Lessons first!  I didn't remember those, but I'm gonna look right now.

I don't have disk issues, so I'll go forth and flex!

OK, now I've done the mobility routine (except for that last advanced pose) — it makes all the difference in the world to have direction for focus.  I was doing some of the stretches already for splits training, so delighted to learn they'll serve that dual purpose.  I had just come in from a workout when I saw your response, so I was already warmed up.

Thank you for your commitment to excellence and education!

I think there are a few other stretches in the individual lessons as well, you may want to take a look at those. Not all of the individual lessons are in the routines. The individuals also give you a bit more direction for placement ect also. You'll see the muscles stretched listed in the description….they are also placed in groups. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_heart1.gif
