Hi! When I try the basic invert, I hit my ribs on the pole and it’s painful. Am I too close to the pole? I’m scary doing it again..

To be more specific, I mean the underarm ribs, on each side I try to invert..

are your hips in front of the pole before you invert?

I think they were in front of the pole but I’m not sure.. Also I realize that maybe I squeeze too much the inner arm on the pole..

I had this (still get it if I don’t concentrate). Lots of pole tucks, pull ups and making sure I was correctly positioned – see Veena and Ariael Amy chopper lessons. Knees to elbows, pole in soft ‘hip pocket’ not on ribs and standing slightly in front of pole. If your tuck pull up isn’t controlled or you jump into inverts you will likely hurt yourself so steady and do all the strengthening prep to stay safe!

Basically revisit Veena and do these exercises

Do not kick or jump into inverts and be sure that you have a solid side pole hold and a good understanding of how the scapula works. Please take a look at the Basic Invert lessons if you are taking them. Also this video will help you.
