I am totally in! The provisional list you posted looks great. I would love to be part of the co-host group. And I do think people expect a demo (especially because there are so many diff names for moves) I feel the same way you do about setting myself up as an expert when I’m nowhere near that level. Any suggestions for getting around this?

I like #NewYearBasics some other suggestions are #JanPoleBasics or #PoleBasicsChallenge. I searched the #PoleBasics hastag on instagram and it looks like there is a pole studio called Pole Basics that uses that tag for their posts.

I have some concerns about the elbow stand if this is challenge is meant to be do-able for beginners. This move can be quite challenging because of the required core strength and flexibility in the legs. Otherwise I think the list is perfect. There’s a great variety of moves. It’s really exciting πŸ˜€

I have an extremely busy Jan and Feb, as we have unexpected plans that will require me to be off pole for all of Jan. πŸ™ However, I would love if you could add a #studioveena or #SV to the challenge. If I get a chance I will try and record the suggested list so I could be used a one of the references for “how to” on Instagram as well. I don’t know if I’ll have time, but I would let you know if I didn’t get everything recorded. I will post this to our FB page on feature it if you can add the # for me. xoxoxo

I hope everything is ok for you in January Veena.

That’s a good suggestion about the elbow stand Saeyh, how about we replace it with a martini spin? Hopefully Lucca could show us what it is because I think I know it but call it a Señorita.

I had a thought – could we make this challenge hosted by ‘StudioVeenaUsers’ so it’s clear we are all different level, at-home polers doing this to improve out practice, for fun? And have the #studioveena?
Maybe we could do a rota to demo the moves? If Veena has time to demo that would be amazing. Otherwise I guess I can shoot the first week’s worth and then put it up the day before. Still feel a bit strange about being the demo guru though because I am really relearning all this stuff myself after neglecting it.

I’m going to say I’m also intimidated by hosting. If Veena makes videos for everything that would be AWESOME!

I have no problem making the graphic. Tomorrow is my last day of work until after the New Year so I’ll have time.

I like the idea of incorporating SV too.

Can we have people @studioveena? (as well as the other hosts TBD)… and maybe the hashtag have something to do with SV but its unique.

like #SVpolebasics or something involving new year? Im just brainstorming… other words can be essentials, fundamentals… etc.

If you get the all recorded Veena, do you think you’ll be able to post each one the night before? πŸ™‚

Would it be better to wait til February then? I know we are all very excited, especially me but if a thing is worth doing it’s worth doing REALLY CHUFFING WELL and to have Veen demo it would be THE BEST.

Also if it has #SV I don’t want to bring the SV brand into disrepute by posting up half assed crap demos.

Let me see if I can record everything tomorrow if it doesn’t happen then, I think feb would be a good time. However, sexy moves might be a fun challenge for feb? ðŸ’‒💋 I don’t know if others would be ok with sexy but I would do it. I’m thinking floor work and body rolls etc.

Also I would change out carousel spin and chair as I don’t feel they are beginner.

I would consider chair and carousel intermediate as well, they are taught in level 2 at the studios by us. I like the sexy moves for February challenge! But id feel more comfortable doing that as an SV challenge like how the IG yoga challenges are done here. But that’s just me and I guess that’s not as possible with videos…all of veenas sexy stuff looks pretty tasteful while still being sexy though πŸ™‚

Ok let us know Veena. No pressure πŸ™‚

I LOVE a sexy challenge for Feb too.

Meanwhile ladies let’s brainstorm 2 moves to stick in there so Veena knows what to record. I’m ok with the elbow stand in general if no one can come up with something else… I’m not sure how everyone else feels. I agree it’s not like an easy move… But I think if we are going for fundamentals, it’s a nice one. But I’m also ok with switching it out. Having some non spins is just a nice option. For some people spins are more challenging then like headstands/handstands/elbowstands… I think it just depends on your background. I

I guess we need to decide if we are going to brand it as a beginner challenge or a fundamentals challenge? Will many actual beginners participate in a challenge, will more advanced polers want to participate in a beginner challenge? Or are we more likely to attract people of all levels to a fundamentals challenge? I don’t know.

Whatever you guys decide is great.

    And keep brainstorming a hashtag!

Actually looking at the list again there are a bunch of no spin options

I think elbow stand is ok, they don’t all have to be EASY, just beginner appropriate. We could add in Pole Hold….I will do some leg variations for it too, and maybe The Easy Up? To replace the carousel and chair spin?
