I just put up my first pole today and tried it out a little. All I can say is I am very weak, Did not realize how much strength it takes to just do a pull up on pole.

It hasn't discouraged me though. Will def be purchasing lessons. It is so exciting. I have wanted a pole for years!

Hi Donna! I'm a beginner too, I have been poling for 5 months.  When I first started, I couldn't do a push up, and had problems doing a basic fireman.  Since then, my arm strength has grown immensley! I don't lift weights or anything, just have been poling regularly, and you will soon notice a big difference. I can do a couple of pole ups now.  Keep at it girl!

Just keep at it! We all start off as beginners, and most all of us know the feeling! I couldn't do a push up before pole, but now I can do a couple of them all manly (the non-girl variation!) My first pole-up was really hard too and I could hardly lift my feet off the floor. The best thing about pole dancing is that you can have fun while you dance, and you'll find yourself building strength as you go along! Do what you can for now without comparing yourself to those you see on YouTube, and enjoy your journey!
