I would get a flip video camera. I was originally using a JVC Everio but, had some difficulties uploading. The flip is so much easier.

The logitech HD Webcams are great! They are around $100 right now

Also look for the Sony Webbie MHS-CM1 – retailing for $200 or less.

The Flip’s are really nice little camcorders – you can get them in HD as well.

Aiptek makes okay camcorders for really cheap – I’ve fooled around with a couple of their models. There AVS-Go HD has some pretty good reviews.

I have got a really low end web cam and for the most part it is okay. I think it’s blurry the color isn’t great but overall it picks up movement good enough for youtube – some clips do tend to studder – even in my uncut vids you can see where it freezes up sometimes. I use my cell a lot as well and get the same results. Personally for YT vids I don’t think super great quality is too important just as long as it gets the point across.

And for an even cheaper route – you dont NEED HD there are a lot of decent standard cams out there for $200 or under.

Has anyone tried the Logitech Orbit webcam? It’s pricey, but the motorized tracking feature intrigues me. It sounds like the cam would automatically follow you up and down the pole while dancing, so you’re not disappearing from the frame when doing floorwork etc. Does anyone know if this works as intended?

Its been a while since this thread has been utilized so I thought I’d try my hand at reviving it. I can’t post any practice videos or even see how I am progressing b/c I do not own a camcorder. Those of you that have a camcorder, what do you have? Do you recommend it? What would you buy if you could? I’m just looking for some feedback before I splurge.
    TIA!
