Cleo is amazing, such perfect technique (toes always pointed, extension always perfect, even when she's mucking about with new moves) and so powerful! I don't mean to brag but I have 3 classes with her a week 🙂

She's an excellent teacher, and a really nice person – she's the only teacher I have who remembers everyone's names and what you're good at. Hope you have a great workshop with her!

Yep Cleo rocks. Anastasia is so bendy she's amazing. I also love the Milan Pole Studio instructors… Marion Crampe is super bendy too. ANother great Australian pole dancer is Fontaine Bradbury. And just recently I've dicovered (youtube) The Vertitude Pole Studio has some talented instructors too – Sergia and Katherine are my faves.

I have to say that while I think the new pole stars are amazing (have you SEEN cleo’s new trick? She’s using her freaking butt to grip the pole. Dude!) my favorite thing about all the YouTube exposure is that it has allowed us lots of “candid” footage. I love that we get to see so many pole videos that capture one of those times where the music was just right, everything felt right, and the dance came out magically, easily, like pouring water. Not always technically perfect, or the flawlessly choreographed routine that wins an international comp, but really the feeling that drives us all to some extent. This isn’t a team sport. There’s something about the feeling of doing this that keeps us all going.

But, most of my most recent favorites on YouTube have been of freestyle videos. Not always clean or perfect, but they motivate and inspire. Webstwe from Brassy Butterfly’s floorwork videos, Annemarie Davies’ “shadow on the sun” freestyle, Fleur has some warmup vids out there that are omgwoah, that occasional random freestyle vid you find that makes you go “wait woah who the hell is this person that just crawled out of the woodwork and into my heart?!” and even a few studioveena members whose videos I find myself just keeping clicking “favorite” on because watching them dance is just so. Damn. Good.

I don’t perform or compete. Pole to me has become about a certain feeling, a physical satisfaction that has really rounded me out as a person and given me something I thrive on. So lately my pole idols have come to my attention in virtue of a video that captures that same feeling and inspires me to find new ways to push myself, to take the training and the exercising and literally make something beautiful out of it.

Maybe I’m just a sap, sorry! LOL

Not a sap at all. Just very passionate about pole dance. You apperciate all forms and styles and this is a good thing because majority people have so freaking clue how hard it is. Making a song flow and incorporating dancing is a job in itself, and if it doesnt always come natural to you (like me, lol). And building the strength to do the tricks and not become discouraged and quit altogether is another key factor to be successful in the sport.

But then there are some (like the performers mentioned here and some veena members) it just comes natural and when we watch them it is like they were made to pole and the pole was made for them.
You put this post in all the right words. 😉

Another new "star" who's appeared this year (at least in my microcosmos) is the Russian performer Pink Puma. Think she lives and works in Vegas at the moment. She's extremely flexible and can do some original moves! Here's a vid:

Pink Puma caught my eye immediatly and went straight for the top fav. she has a very particular style and works with really cool tricks and combos. Also we dont see many tall skinny dancers. In my dreams I pole and move my legs exactly like her lol

Pink Puma has legs for days… I have just recently heard of her and I love her style and she is gorgeous. Pink Puma is listed as someone that will be hostng workshops at Pole Expo in September in Vegas.

Cleo the Hurricane is flat out AMAZING!!! She is like a warrior in heels. She is hosting a few workshops at Pole Convention in California.
