elisabeth backsplit
Posted by emotioncatcher on January 12, 2012 at 1:57 pmhey guys!
has anyone an idea how to get into one of the variations of the "elisabeth backsplit" or into "flying light". I already tried it from a dove. I placed my foot on the pole and tried to slide it up between my hands, but that didn´t really work (I though like that dove variation^^).
Any other ideas or a video of someone doing one of that tricks
Thanks! <3

Hi!
I can't remember I've ever seen these tricks performed in any vid so far. Could it be that even such overly flexible people like Anastasia Skukhturova and Elizabeth Marchenko need help from another person to get into the poses..?
I guess your approach from the dove is correct, though. Maybe the guy I saw in your latest tutorial could give you a handhttps://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif?

OOps….sorry~~didn't quite read those posts right….
I thought you were talking about the rainbow…..
I can't find anything called elizabeth backsplit or flying light…..
Have a pic?
-
Oh!! I just saw a pic of that on FB…
This the same thing?
I am pretty sure that is Miraine off her on SV…..I would ask her how she gets into it.
-
WOW…………I am sooooo out of it today.
Not Miraine……

Yes, looks like she's on the back split there. Amazingly well done! Must be very difficult though to put the foot ABOVE the hands like they have on the wikipole pic if no one is going to help out.

Well, according to WikiPole, there are several variations–the one where the back leg is on the opposite side of the pole from you, the one where it's on the opposite side but touching the pole, and the one where it's on the same side. Here's a video of Elisabeth Marchenko doing the first variation. She starts getting into it at 1:04.

Judging by MilienElayne's pictures, I'd guess that you could get into the other variations the same way?

This the only pic I could find. I will try and find the vid of Anastasia doing it….

wow so many replies while I was sleeping =) Thanks so much!
@lina:I saw anastasia doing it only on the floor (variation with foot on same side like the body) and wondered if she just lifts the lower leg, then it would be the flying light
@reenie: Milien Elayne´s pose looks a bit like done from a dove maybe, too. maybe It´s a combination of sliding with the foot up and walking down a bit with the hands? I think I´ll write her and ask how she gets into it. I´m sure if you´re flexible enough and have some practice you could completely extend your legs from her position, then it would be that backsplit I would like to learn.
@chumpkin: that variation in the video was the only one I could imagine how to get into ^^ How would you get from it into one of the variations where the foot touches the pole? (besides her backsplit looks soooo beautiful!!)
@ember: that would be great! as i also can´t remember that I ever saw more of that trick than just photos

Actually I've been asking myself the same question when seeing those pics on wikipole and elsewhere….how the h**l do they get into that?
Doing the flying light from the floor in the way you are describing emotioncatcher seems like a much more doable thing (at least if you are Anastasia;)) than up on the pole.
Ember, it would be really great to see that vid, Anastasia is one of my true favorites!

i also looked through some of anastasia´s videos, but couldn´t find anything yet… I´ll practice now a bit and will try how far I can get into it from a dove (maybe with some help of my boyfriend ^^) and let you know how it worked

i think it´s possible from a dove, but it´s so difficult. Here´s a picture of my doing the pose on the floor (with a sock, so I can slide up the pole with my foot easier^^):
http://img10.imageshack.us/img10/506/backsplitfloor.jpg
When I go into it from dove I don´t have enough grip with socks, but without socks I can´t slide my foot up to my hands. Because of the pressure my "foot grip" is super strong.
So I tried to slide down with my hands, but I couldn´t get my leg as straight as when I stand on the ground (had to bend my leg, because I was too close to the floor, but extending the lower leg is no problem):

Any ideas how to make it easier on the pole? If I could just get my leg as straight as on the floor I would be totally pleased. I don´t matter if it´s not completely straight at the moment as I´m not that flexible yet

geez you are FLEXY! love it! anyway Jess Leanne Norris did it from a dove variation – 3.20 in
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mgAzsQYZQ5o
I can't do any of that myself but I guess practice on the floor a lot and also in splits to get used to the hold? other than that i really don't know sorry! but Jess does it slowly in the vid so I hope you get a clearer idea 🙂
