embarrasing pole story
Posted by carriej on January 24, 2010 at 6:48 pmugghhhhhhhhhhhhhh…so while my hub was at the store, I did my first knee hold and yogini. I was getting them most of the time. And he’s gone for like 2 damn hours getting 5 things at the grocery store. So, I had to stop poleing b/c I was getting really tired. By the time he comes back, the pole is freezing. I tried to show him knee holds but couldn’t stick. Then, I did a yogini (and the only way I can do it so far is to have on no shirt) and my arm slipped and I fell on my knee and in a big lump on the floor. Topless and in a knot on the ground! I can’t remember the last time I felt so embarrassed. So, I blamed him for not being here and letting the pole get cold and he said that he can’t sit at the house all day to wait on me to get every move and that he bought some apples at the store and to draw a face on one so that it could watch me all day! The way he said it made me freaking crack up. I laughed so hard I cried. He was right b/c I blamed him for me falling on the ground which he had nothing to do with!
Does anyone else have an embarrasing pole story?

Ha I think we must have a touch of pole-twin-itis ‘cos I too was doing the yogini the other and slipped and slammed down on my knee! And I’m pretty sure you’ll always need skin for that one (feel free to correct me on this anyone!). I haven’t blamed someone else for a pole mishap but it runs in my family to get flustered when something happens and blame it on the person who just happened to be standing nearby talking to us at the time!
That apple story – SO cute though!!

https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_razz.gif well, at least you screwed up in front of someone that loves you and not a crowd of strangers…
I like the apple idea- reminds me of "castaway" and that volleyball named Wilson. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gifI was on stage and got on the ground to do a hand stand and as I was going down, I banged my head on the pole…

and another time while on stage, I was doing a chopper and I was just SOOOO exhausted after working all day, my muscles simply failed and instead of gracefully coming out of it, I slid down the pole and clumsily landed on my butt cheek/hip. (which is better than landing on the tailbone, so I’m grateful for that) My shoes made the loudest thud on the stage too, so whoever happened to not be paying attention certainly did at that point. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif
I just laugh those situations off… you gotta be able to laugh at your screw ups! -
Lol carriej! That’s story is soo funny! The apple idea sounds like something my boyfriend would say. I had an embarrassing pole incident today.. well there was no one watching except my laptop, thankfully! I was doing a handstand, facing the pole, with sock on (bad idea). Was trying out different leg positions, when I started to slip. Tried to grab on with my feet, but no luck due to the socks.. Flipped right over (can hear me squeal on the video), slammed down onto the floor. Actually hurt quite a bit but I seem to be okay!
Needless to say I put some cushions down and took my socks off for the next try!!

I didn’t even realize what was happening until my upper back hit the floor. ouch. Luckily, only the dogs were watching…

awww carrie! i think the whole story is so cute! i’m sure your hubby didn’t find it as embarrassing as you did! topless & hurt seems embarrassing to us women, but i’m sure he found it to be sexy/cute! Next time: just video record your moves so that way you can just show him on video & not worry about a cold pole! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_razz.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif thanks for sharing this!

Oh…I’m sure it does make you feel a little more vulnerable falling while naked! But hey, at least your hubby has seen you naked many times and probably in much more glorious ways! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_razz.gif
This post just make me think – "ha! at least she didn’t pull a ‘toe in the cooter’ https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_surprised.gif like Sissybuns did on that video – LOL!!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

Hehe when I was learning the handspring I had a "genious" idea to get a little bit of a running start (bad idea!) because I was determine to get my but up there. So my bottom hand TOTALLY misses the pole and i flipped foward and kind of landed on my but/neck on the nice hardwood floor (very luck I was not hurt but a soar shoulder the next day). Thankfully no one was home or watching (except my dog), so after I realized I was not broken I had a good laugh about it. Don’t get a running start!!!!!!

Tried a SM to Brass Monkey in class (haven’t been taught it, shouldn’t be showing off) during freestyle and had no grip whatsoever on my legs… forgetting I had put lotion on to shave earlier and that the pole was still a little cold…lost my hand grip trying to catch myself…and plummeted to the floor. Landed on my shoulder, legs over my head, and I was pointing my toes so hard one of my 6" heels half came off, hanging by the strap from my ankle. Spent the rest of freestyle time getting right side up and trying to get my shoe off before throwing a hurried back arch pose like nothing happened and before the song ended. Graceful! My instructor acted as if she didn’t see me fall (maybe she didn’t), and everyone else seemed to be too busy working their own freestyle… Lucky escape!
