I found a discussion here about finding/choosing a chair for dancing, but it is from quite long ago so I thought I’ll ask again from scratch. I’d really like to start chair dancing next year, but I am finding it difficult to find a suitable chair. I think I would definitely want a foldable one, not sure why as I am not planning to take it places at this stage, but it’s just the shape/design of them and the idea that they would be lighter even when sturdy enough to hold my wight. I found some at IKEA that seem really strong, but generally I could not find a sturdy one with a flat back, so my question really is does the back have to be flat? I assumed so, but perhaps not? anyone has any experience of using α chair with a rounded back? This is the one I liked http://www.ikea.com.cy/trapezaria/karekles/ptussomenes-karekles/ptyssomeni-karekla-46245/47376/ any suggestions and/or tips? Thanks!

A slightly heaver metal chair will be less likely to tip or slide away from you than plastic! I personally wouldn’t choose anything plastic. The chairs I use are metal and inexpensive. I bought mine at Target for well under 20 dollars!

This chair is 9 bucks! http://www.target.com/p/folding-chair-black/-/A-14777780#prodSlot=medium_1_12&term=metal+folding+chair

Thanks Veena! The one I am looking at is metal. The thing I was worried about was the round back, but I can see that the chair you sent the link of also has a round back. The one you use in the lessons seems to be flat and was wondering if that made a difference.

The chair in the link is the same one I use in the lessons 😊

Lula Geddes, I bought the same chair as per your link from IKEA, but a different color. It’s a good one and solid.
