Hi all! just wondering if you could share any routines that you use for your abs, either using the pole or no equipment since i only have the pole, also how much cardio do you do to keep your weight down in the tummy area? i really need some info on getting a non flabby belly.

edit. its not that i have a big belly but like a skin pooch and rolls when i bend, too many of them lol

cardio is a big part for sure…you need low body fat to have the flat ripped look. For a flat tummy the Transverse abdominals are important to train. So moves like the switch (found in the lessons) are great for that. Here is a vid I did on tips for abs

Women are meant to have a layer of fat over their abdomen, it is our protection for when we bear children. The only time I have ever seen people with completely flat bellies is either when they have had a tummy tuck or they have VERY low body fat…we are talking <15%. My husband says that the little bit of a pooch is sexy because it says that a woman is fertile and gives them more curves. If only we could all see it that way!!

And for all those that wonder about boob jobs and poling look a little closer. Don’t know how long she has not been performing but I don’t think it has been long.

Chris like a pooch too, I don’t mind my pooch either or stretch marks. I earned those marks growing 4 beautiful babies. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/bom.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/bom.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/bom.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/bom.gif

No, I don’t know if she was off. I know there have been questions on the forum about poling after a boob job though.

Well now I have a question that is maybe a little bit the opposite of the first one but it is related. Since I started teaching in august and training for a competition I feel I have gotten this more ripped look specially on my arms and stomach. And I actually like it when I look a little softer. I have always been thin and have fast metabolism. Is there anything I can do to prevent this ? Eat more, train less or what? I practice for about 6 hours or more a week and try to eat as often as possible but its sometimes hard since I am way too busy lately.

I have a treadmill in the house https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif my bf and i were spending a fortune on gym membership but not getting the benefit cos of work and other commitments so we bought a treadmill as our xmas prezzy to each other!(cost about £250 in the sale – less than half our total annual gym costs). ideally i try to run 3-4 times a week for cardio and to fight the flab. i do crunches as well as lower ab work – leg lifts, ‘bicycle legs’ etc (sorry – i don’t know real names!) and i work my sides through side planks and side crunches using the pole (hook knee on pole, lean body out perpendicular to pole and crunch up sideways). this works well to keep my tum under control (though by no means perfect!) one thing i do notice that makes a big difference – sweets / crisps / chocolate. I’m not a nutritionist this is just my observation. my ‘podge’ (in the middle of my tum just under my belly button – i’m flat at the sides) gets big very quick if i eat junk but it takes a long time to work off.
S, 3 key things: cardio, tum work (don’t forget the sides) and reduce junk food.

Sorry this post is so long!

with the side crunch thing – take it easy the first few times you do it – i didn’t feel it working when i did them on tuesday, but by wednesday evening i realised i’d done too much! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_pale.gif aim for 10-20, depending on your current level of strength. And remember to keep abs engaged and back straight to maximise effectiveness https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumright.gif If my psychotic, sadistic instructor comes up with anyting new i’ll keep you posted!!

There’s a Yoga Today podcast (free download) that I use called "Deep Core Conditioning with Adi Amar." It has really helped me tone my abs and build strength for head and handstands.

I do a circuit training when it comes to my abs. Im trying to work on them daily, but my life gets in the way. I do reg crunches, bicycles, and a lower ab crunch. I do a 30-20-10 rotation. I will also do planks – that helps the transverse abs which helps make them lay flat.

I dont mind having a little extra love on top of mine. They are looking better – esp after having 2 kids with the last one giving me horizontal stretch marks, me gaining 80lbs and him coming out over 11lbs. My stretch marks look really good!

If anyone wants to borrow my current free weight (my son – hes 30lbs and only 18mos), hes available! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif
