great grip for legs!
Posted by GlitterSteph on July 7, 2014 at 8:19 pmI seem to sweat more then alot of people at my studio but I also have extreme sensitive skin so the grip aids I tried for hands the residue on the pole made my legs break out a ton! My pole instructors home remedy so to speak was gel shaving cream. Tep. Shaving cream. With inverts, pole sits and such my legs slip way, too much. I have a shaving gel for sensitive skin and it’s amazijg. It needs to be gel! And you lather it thick like lotion on your legs and rub it in till its all gone. My legs stick so well but also allow me to spin. It was wonderful with the climb and stuff too π hope this helps someone else!

I did this during winter (I have drier skin) and it seemed to give me a little more grip. Bonus, it didn’t leave residue on the pole.

This is what Cleo uses, and since I’ve tried it, it’s been my go to. She also sprays hair spray over top of it, which I only do for performance. I find that the gel has an added advantage of psychologically putting me in “pole mode” because I smell it every time I train, having a pavlovian effect on me.

I use at the moment but might need to look into this. How long does a can of shaving gel usually last? I’ve had my bottle of for over a year now, so I’m not sure which would be better bang for my buck.

It’s different for everyone, but I find that the pole gets slippery (for me) with dewpoint. Shaving gel can be found quite inexpensive. I currently have a can I bought at Dollarama. π

i have to have sensitive skin so it may be like 6$ but i use mine for pole and shaving. still lasts me a few months. if it was just for pole would prob last way longer. but i am unfamiliar with . lol

Awesome thanks for the info. I have started using firm grip spray on my pole and it works awesome but I noticed yesterday when sweating really bad it lost its tack but usually works pretty good. Almost to good lol. I don’t recommend static spins with it.

Thanks for sharing this! Does the brand matter? Or any particular ingredient to look for? This seems easier and faster than ordering dry hands.

HI BagLady and Cuwoody!
I just rub it in. I also put it on my stomach and sometimes inner elbow, depending. As for brand…I”m sure there are some better than others, but I am still exploring. Let me know if you find a favorite! I usually avoid the ones which say they are tooo moisturizing. I want some grip, but no slip. π
I also use dry hands on my hands. I wash the gel off before dry handing afterwards.

my teacher does not recommend using it on hands so i just use it for legs and side and such but i still use dry hands for my actual hands π My teacher used just stuff from the dollar general… i have to use sensitive skin stuff so i use Aveeno. and yes, just rub it in thick like lotion no water needed π always makes me feel soft when i shower later too lol

I tried Nivea for men sensitive skin shave gel for jade practice yesterday and big thumbs up! Not on hands though! But spent 5 mins in hip hold and didn’t budge – not bad in 80f!

Dry hands on hands. And lots of wiping on shorts – which is why I wear husband’s cotton boxers or trunks rolled down for home practice lol! I keep Lycra shorts for a/c studio.
-
I used it on my tricep/underarm grip and all over my waist hips too – as well as knee pit. It totally worked.
Ok will shut up now.

remind us of this when it’s winter and dry weather please! lol π
