If all else fails call Randy with LM.  I don't know a whole lot about the vaulted ceiling adapter.

thank you so much, chem!!!  it seems to me that when i turn the pole to extend it while it is on the mount, the adjuster tube is just turning around the metal of the mount, like you said.  i don't see how that vaulted mount could turn.  but maybe it could..

i am also concerned about what is the correct length of the pole, because the vaulted mount takes up quite a bit more space than the regular plastic mount.

    maybe i should call them???

thank you everyone for your help!  i called randy, and here is the correct info for the vaulted ceiling mount:  measure the distance from the floor to the mount (where the pole will attach).  then, extend the pole to 1 and 1/4 inches longer than the length you just measured.  for example, the distance from the floor to the mount is 118", so i extended the pole to 119 and 1/4".  it is correct that you should never try to extend the pole while it is on the mount.

Yes Tarah, same way with regular mount but only go 1" more.  It will take a little muscle lifting and sliding into place, but once you do, you will be set.  Good luck!

thanks, lyme!  actually it was really easy to do.  i thought it would be difficult because my neighbor seemed to have a hard time with it.  he was impossible – refused to measure anything.  my tape measure broke a while ago, and he forgot to bring his.  i kept offering to run over to his house and get it (he was up on the ladder installing the mount), but he insisted he did not need it.  men!!!

Glad all is well with the newest addition to your studio.  You will actually find that it will take mere seconds to put the Mynx up and down once you get the hang of it. I know they say check it monthly, but we are in a special envirinment, so I'd REALLY suggest you take it down, let everything settle, re-measure and put it up weekly. Safety first.

     Cheeeeeeee!!!  :))
