how much do u practise???

Right now I practice a few hours a week. I generally only find time for one good pole session a week that probably lasts a couple of hours. I think some of that has been because it’s been winter time and my pole really has to be warm to be at all functional so I can’t just hop on whenever, I need to have a fair amount of time to make it worth it. I’m hoping that’s not the case this summer.
Per move it just depends. Some things I get after a few tries. I learned a shoulder mount in two practices. The first week I tried I couldn’t imagine how it was going to work, the second week I watched a tutorial a littler closer, figured out I needed to have my head leaned back to be on the shoulder muscle and not my scapula and I did it on the second try. I’ve been working on cartwheel to Ayesha for three sessions now. I managed to get there in the first session after about 10 attempts but can’t hold the Ayesha for long and haven’t figured out why yet. I practice about ten times each session. I don’t think I would have the stamina to repeat something 50 times and I’m almost certain I would hurt myself or end up with a pulled muscle so I don’t push it (but I’m 44 years old).
As for tricks I’ve learned, I try to run through them at least once each session so I don’t lose them.

I pole on average about 2 times a week, sometimes more sometimes not at all.
If you’re poling for fun, once a week is great! Don’t expect to see huge gains in strength but if you’re doing it for fun then progression isn’t the goal anyway. 🙂
If you’re poling for fitness (a workout) then 3 times a week focusing on full body each of the 3 days, for around 30 mins to 1 1/2 hours is a good way to build strength.
If you’re poling with the goal of trick progression and strength building 5 days a week at the most, (3 days is suggested for new dancers) being sure to have rest days and do not focus on the same trick or major muscle groups 2 days in a row to prevent overuse.
When working on a new trick I suggest limiting your attempts to 10 times, this may sound like very little but pushing will only make for more bruising and sore muscle which can set back your practice time the next session.

It averages for me. This week I’ve poled 4 times, for an hour each time. I’m usually registered in 2-1 hour classes/week and generally aim for 2 additional 1.5 hour practices.
However, I am not practicing the same thing each time. One day I’ll be working on choreo/freestyling, another might be conditioning and stretching and the rest will be moves.

I try to do at least 3 days a week. 2 of them are usually 2-3 hrs long and 1 of them is an hour.

Sat – 2 pole classes – pole fit and pole practice back to back
Sun – pole fit class
Tues – 2 pole classes – morning and evening
Wed – nothing
Thurs – yoga am and/ or chair dance class evening
Fri – ballet barre class amI used to do 2 x tribe-core weekly as well which is trx strength training but I was over- training so scaled back. I go to 3 different pole studios and I don’t think any of the teachers know how much extra stuff I do! They are all great and I learn different stuff off each teacher.
Looking back it looks a bit intense but classes are only an hour except yoga and include warm up/stretch down plus watching instructor/other students so not the same as an intense home session alone.
And it’s keeping me sane having an hour to myself most days: the rest of the time I look after my 3 year old who has special needs which is hard (but rewarding).

I pole at a minimum of 4 days a week, but usually it is 5 days and sometimes even 6 days.
On Tuesdays and Thursdays it is only for one hour as I go to pole class. But any other day will be anywhere from 1.5 to 3 hours.
I also go to the gym and stretch a lot so I incorporate that in as well.
With moves, it all depends… I’m at an advanced level now so most things take a few sessions to learn, then longer to make them clean and part of muscle memory. Something like the no hands allegra I got straight away, but is still taking some time for me to feel totally comfortable. Other things, like the holly drop, scare me a lot so I try to work on them a few times each session so I don’t get worked up over them!
At the moment I’m training for competitions so I haven’t been going to the gym and just focusing on pole, I have limited time as I work long hours and am tired after work but always pick myself up and get on the pole haha
