    hi there!

just wanting to vent a little since in here people might understand better.

I started pole 7 months ago and LOVE IT! even got my own pole at home to practice, for two years now ive been experiecing knee pain and doctors did not find out what it was to i just got used to it, but 3 months ago it has spread to my shoulders and upper body . I am stiff as a board when a wake up and in pain but it tend to improve later as the day goes by, but the saddest thing for me its that it making pole very hard and painful, i cant do inverts or put much preassure on my arms 🙁 sniff!.  going to the doctor again today , new blood work and an MRI tomorrow, i hope its something treatable so i can have a normallife first and continue to use my pole since i really enjoy it and has made me loose weight.

thanks for reading I just really wanted to tell someone, my family still does not know at least to much

I hope it's nothing serious. I( hope it gets better for you. I am all too familiar with chronic pain issues keeping me off the pole (i.e chronic headaches.)

Insist on being tested for Lyme Disease. Lyme is often misdiagnosed as MS, Parkinson’s, Chronic Fatigue, and ALS. If properly diagnosed and treated, you will make a full recovery! I know, been there.

Are you taking any herbal supplements? About 10 years ago I was taking herbal supplements and needed to take advil for a headache.  I started having joint pain in the legs.  So I took more advil. The pain moved to my elbows, so I took more advil.  I went to the doctors and they couldn't figure out what was going on.  Unitl the doctor asked if I was taking herbal supplements.  I stopped taking the supplements and the joint pain went away within a few weeks.  I am not sure which supplement it was that when mixing with advil caused the joint pain.  It was a terrible experience because the advil would stop the pain, but also with the supplements would add to more pain.

Just to add to what kcfl5 said, make sure that you fully disclose everything to your doctor– extra vitamins, supplements, herbal remedies… all of those things can interact with your body and drugs that you take to treat your pain!

I hope you can pinpoint the problem and make a full recovery soon!

You may also want to talk to your doctor about Fibromyalgia.  Stiffness and pain are very common with Fibromyalgia.  Unfortunately, it is very difficult to diagnose.  Good luck!

well i just got back from my doctor; and the conclusion is I have fibromyalgia.. i was suspecting this myself but i was resisting this particular diagnosis. I will make peace with it soon, as it was also recomended that I go to a psycologist . its funny how it does make sense I just didn't realize how bad fibromyalgia could get . i got a book on it today, and i will use lyrica for 2 months with the plan on getting off of it and maintining with suplements and diet, i hope I can get to the pole as soon as possible, since it helps a great deal , and  go back to yoga since i have not done that in years.

all your comments were helpful since i dont share much with people that i like pole fitness classes. this is like a club to me since everybody is on facebook you cant share anything there, here its still kinda private.

    many xoxox https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_heart1.gif

Although it can be difficult to manage initially, once you have your fibromyalgia under control, there has been some research that has shown that exercise helps!  That is the good news!!  The other good news is that ten years ago, doctors were not diagnosing it nor was there a medication for it.  Keep your head up and your heart strong and you will be back to poling in no time!

My mom has that. She says it has gotten better now that she avoids the computer, stretches, and is on an antidepressant.

I have had FM for a long time, and I am doing great! No medication and very, very little pain. I stay active, dance a lot and get accupuncture when i need it. I also cut gluten out  of my diet which has given me boundless energy! Hang in there and you will find what works for you too!
