Lately at the studio I go to a lot of the other girls(students) have been asking for my opinions and help as if I were there to teach them but I'm there paying money to use the space and poles there myself, I have thought about sending the instructor a message to let her know that because of how often im asked to assist them then maybe there is a job opportunity there for me or something. I dont know how to say it though also I'm thinking of moving to the back poles instead of the front poles so im not as readily available to them. I dont mind that we all support each other and help here and there but im beginning to feel like im losing my time that i pay for. what should i say or do to help with this and not sound rude or mean? please help

Maybe say you don’t teach yet, and don’t wanna be responsible for them hurting themselves?

I've been going there for about a year and so far it seems like students do ask students for help if they see that someone has gotten a certain move or spin down. I think that turning them down would've been better in the beginning of the journey. I'm wondering if its time I just break down and finally pay twice as much for advanced classes or if I do most at home and drop in on some advanced classes maybe.

Email your tutor and mention it, you are not being rude, you have seen an opportunity for them and you. You could ask for a space in the advanced class at the cost of the class you go to now in return.
I understand what you mean, I had that happen at our last jam and I ended up cold, couldn’t warm up again, so didn’t end up practicing anything, I was very annoyed.
Also, maybe it’s just time to switch to the higher class then you can be the one to ask others 🙂
Do you get tutoring time from the teacher in your current class?

They are firm on pricing so I didnt go there but I did send her a message mentioning it in the nicest way possible that the girls in class do ask for assistance quite a bit and that I was wondering if there are any job opportunities there, if not maybe later and I asked if theres anything I should be doing to get closer to the instructor point. I'm thinking it may be time to move onto the next level, Im the only one in the intermediates that can do 8 or more tricks down the pole all at once. I'll have to drop in on some advanced classes once I've used up all my intermediates, theres no way I can afford to go every week but once in awhile is probably better than learning the rest at home. The instructor in intermediate goes around to all the poles and makes sure every girl gets a chance to work with her but thats the time that the other girls keep asking me to reshow moves theyve seen me do so they can do it as well.

Thanks everyone for helping me out with this 🙂

I own a pilates and aerial fitness studio…students should never be allowed to instruct other students..period. The instructor of the class should be telling all the students to please wait for her assistance. It also sounds like you belong in a more advanced class. It sounds like you are not really being challenged enough.

Yeah the more I think about it, your right I'm not really being challenged. Lately I've been working on my bad side cuz my good side is pretty good with the things I've learned there. Its definitely time to move on to the next level. Every time I'm there I keep trying to think of something else to work on that I've seen in a book or online.

We call it pole etiquette at my studio. Students are only permitted to work on what they have learned in thier current series and are strongly discourged from asking others to teach them tricks. We also say, that only instructors teach. Its just annoying when you come to work on your stuff and you’re bombarded by neophytes. They need to master the basics and what they are learning rather than bugging you. Somethg we have started doing recently is providing two seperate pratice sessions for our upper level and lower level students. Maybe you can suggest that to your studio owner. Good luck.
