hi. i have watched studio Verna bids on YouTube for a while and decided to join the site. ( her video on static spins and her Lil funky cute haircut is one of the kids that made me decide I was gonna try pole!). okay I was poling regularly during the warmer months and took a 2 month break. I started back two weeks ago in a very intense class called climb clinic. the studio I go to has brass poles ( I think) and I’m in atlanta so its humid. about a hour into the session I got a huge piece of skin just hanging and unknowingly put liquid chalk all in the wound. I went again two days ago and now have two more big rips. I have never had this problem before (even on a coated pole) and I have excezma… what can I do?? also I’m a plus size poler so my hands take a lot of force (lol)

oh my god! i havent had that happen on my finger tips. I have had calluses on my palms rip open. you might want to take a few days or a week break. is your skin on your hands dry? while your hands are healing you might want to keep them moisturized with something like Aquaphor or Vaseline. just dont do any pole with that stuff on your hands! that looks painful! gloves might be good for you. I use gloves alot for my sweaty hands but they also protect your skin too.

Mighty grip sells pole gloves. You can get non tack gloves for static pole. Tack gloves for spinning pole. They fit close to your skin so that you have a safe grip and less friction which can cause more rips.

I saw there is a wax lotion thing they sell at hard wear stores like Home Depot called O’Keefes working hands cream. It’s mean for carpentry and rule layers and stuff who work with their hands and get splits in the fingers like you have. They also sell it on amazon. Maybe you could try that out?

No I don’t like the tack gloves either. Too much grip. I use the non tack gloves. Order them to the size they suggest. They have a size chart. You will need to measure your hand. They show you where to take the measurement. I would not purposely order a smaller or larger size. I would get the size they recommend. If they are the wrong size you can return or exchange them.
