    Hi everyone,
I have a 4-5 year old titanium gold xpole that I recently put back up after about 8 months of having it in storage. I live in a very humid climate, and I’ve noticed that there are now countless numbers of tiny rust dots all along the outside of it that have bubbled up through the finish. Most are about the size of a grain of sand and are more cosmetic than anything, but there are several larger dots that I can feel when I use the pole. I fear if I just try to ignore them they’re going to keep getting worse (esp. since I have to have my pole in a shed).
Does anyone have any suggestions what I can do to fix these rust spots? I tried sandpapering one of the short extension segments just to test if it worked, and with enough care and time I can sand down the rust and becomes very smooth again but it takes off the gold finish. I don’t really care if I end up with a silver pole as long as I have one that’s usable, but I’m worried that if I sand the whole thing it will rust even more (hence why I tried it first on just a short extender segment). Is there maybe some sort of spray/chemical treatment I can put on?

I’d really appreciate it if anyone has any advice,

    thanks!

I had the same issue with my TG pole the first summer I had it. My pole room is detached from the house and not temperature controlled. I did not realize how hot and humid it could get in there. I discover my rust spots early so they are small. They have “smoothed” out somewhat with use, and just feels a little grainy in some spots but nothing to noticeable, so I don’t have any suggestions on how to fix them. I will tell you, that if the pole is kept in a hot and humid environment for an extending period of time, it will continue to rust and get worse. I have to take my down and bring it in the house after each use in the summer months. May seem like a hassle, but well worth it to preserve my pole:)

Thanks Autumn Sky, I’ve asked around a variety of message boards about this. Logically speaking, i don’t think sanding it should hurt it and it might actually make it even grippier. If I can come to some resolution I’ll definately be storing it differently from now.
BTW, I saw that you’re from Raleigh, NC. I’m from Nashville TN so i think we’ve got a similar climate here (ie. hot and heck’ humid).

My tg x pole started to rust as well and a fellow motorcycle rider said when his pipes rusted that scrubbing it with an so pad soaked in coke will fix it. I tried it and it worked great!

My chrome pole rusted too. Xpole suggested I upgrade to brass , which I did and that is also now showing signs of rust. (And brass isn’t supposed to rust so I’m skeptical that it’s solid brass like they claim)
If you search the forums here so many people have experienced rusting, which I really think xpole should advise of. I’ve spent over $1000 on my poles so it’s very disappointing.
I wouldnt sand my pole, but I was considering powder coating

The x-pole manual does state NOT to store your pole in a damp or wet environment giving the examples of back of the car or and outside shed or it will rust. So it is under the warnings…I just didn’t think of my lovely pole room which is off of our detached garage and not temperature regulated as a shed!:)
