not sticking to pole
Posted by LocheshXXX on February 15, 2014 at 7:04 pmis there a easy, cheap way to get your legs to stick to pole? My hands stick just fine but trying to practice pole sits was impossible. My bare feet didn’t stick or my thighs. Grrrr… Frustrating.

Hmmm, there are a lot of reasons why one may not stick to one’s pole.
So… Are you warm? As in, have you warmed up for about 20 minutes of mostly-cardio exercise, gotten the blood flowing, moving around, etc?
Is your pole warm? Have you used it while you were warming up, so that the metal is warm and more grippy, allowing you to stick to it?
How’s the temperature in your room?
Are you majorly sweaty between your legs?
What kind of pole is it? TG, Stainless, Powder coated, chrome? Some of these may be more difficult for some people to stick to!
Do you have the grip between your thighs right? I know a pole sit looks pretty easy, but sometimes… You gotta play with your grip!
And, finally… are you using just your skin on the pole? (I know this sounds like a no-brainer, but… much like asking “Is it plugged in?” sort of a necessary thing!)Any or all of these can be a huge factor in thigh grip with pole dancing. I know that I stick to things fairly easily with my hands, because of the different skin and the fact that my hands are usually the warmest part of my body, but… thighs are a different matter!

Runemist34 my pole is powder coated. You mentioned the pole being warm. I hadn’t thought of that. I practice in the garage and unless its summer warm isn’t a word I would use to describe it. Plus you mentioned my body being warmed up enough. Yes but I think not enough. Skin not super warm.
When even tops of feet have no stickiness I know theres a problem. I will give your suggestions a try. I would rather not use grip aids if I don’t have to. Thanks heaps. D.M. -
yeah, extending on the warm thing, you should be very lightly sweaty, and it usually doesnt help if the pole is cold either, so you can try warming it up with spins, or maybe a heater in the room

A really good warm up as everyone mentioned is the best way to stick to your pole. If you’re taking the lessons here try using the Basic warm up, this routine is designed to warm your body AND pole!

try this with extreme caution! IF you have really dry skin you might try applying a water based lotion right after the shower. use it VERY sparingly & make sure to let it dry for at least an hour before you pole & wash the lotion off your hands & forearms. i have found both the vaseline intensive care lotion & the burts bees unscented body lotion work well for me on pole days. just be really careful & if you pole at a studio make sure you are trying this on a day when will have your own pole since lotion reacts differently with different skin types. it could help you grip & cause another girl to go flying through the wall. lotion / pole combo can be very trick & dangerous!
