allison cox is a great poler and instructor! i think what your'e seeing is a slightly different spin and entry than what you're used to, but i'm sure allison also teaches the spin entering it with the outside leg and calls it something else. =)

Yeah I don't know what that Jack knife spin is all about but in Online Pole's advanced lessons she has one called the Jack knife handspring which is like the one in the lessons on this site.

i was just "browsing  " for online lessons and dvd's with harder moves (phoenix ect )

just tought it was weird, and also another occasion to CONGRATS veena  for her whole teaching method (which is clearer, graphics are better  ect )

Yes I 2nd the congrats to Veena 🙂 & agree with Oliviaa about how great this site is. I've learned so much and  the lessons are so clear and well organized. I also appreciate how the moves are put in order starting with what you should learn first so that you are conditioned & strengthened as you progress to the next move.

There is some kind of phoenix on Online Pole Lessons but it's not the Reverse grab to twisted grip thing (at least that's what the Phoenix is to me but with all the different names I could be mistaken)

She does have a twisted grip handspring though. I do like that the other site has some different moves to learn  but the studio V lesson format is done better. As far as the instructor herself I think she is probably a good teacher because I saw a demo of one of her students who I thought did a very nice routine and had a smooth flow that I would like to learn. I'd probably go to the Allure studio for lessons in person one day.

There are so many names for each and every move it is difficult to keep them straight.  I believe that S Factor calls the jack knife a SM dismount.  I also know people who call the SM stall where you are horizontal to the floor with one leg straight and one bent a jack knife.  Michelle Mynx has a whole different set of names.  I know the inverted crucifix by about 4 different names.  Just because one person calls it something different does not make it "wrong".

oh well to each their vision i guess…. but to ME  a jack knife is a more advanced move

its like if someoned called the shoulder mount a firefighter….

i guess ill have to learn the various names for the moves!

Ah thanks so much for your support Oliviaaa! It's common for studios have totally different names for moves. I stick to descriptive names and also include the common AKA names in the lesson descriptions.  It's not wrong to use a different names. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif  I have worked hard on developing a way to teach online that is easy for the user to follow and to progress by building strength first. I feel things like the twisted grip should be taught in person, because it isn't a neutral position.

Allison has been a studioveena member for a very long time! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

No worries, I know we have a lot of ppl who are not English "typers" and sometimes things don't translate well. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif
