Hi girls I’m just looking for advice. I’m a very nervouse person when it comes to dancing infront off other people. My hands get sweaty I get really shaky n feel physicly sick :(. Well this week I did my first ever routine infront of my class.it went well witch was good didn’t fall or slide of lol. And managed to do my sad dancer drop at the end and stop before hitting the floor lol. Was rather proud of my little self. The problem is tho I get to the point of feeling so sick n faint. I have always been this way no just with pole. I was on a sales course once at work had to get up in front of a room full of people I got that nervouse fell over n cleaned the display bored out :/, even having some sexy pictures took makes me so nervouse when my partner took them. I hate being the center of atenntion. I’m ok in tiny groups. But anything more I feel sick for hours later 🙁 xxx

Im alot like this also though it sounds like you get it alot worse. All I can say is keep at it! just jump in at every opportunity to perform infront of people, the more confidence you gain the easier it will get, hopefully! Try and show no fear even though your actually bricking it!

The fact that your feel sick for so long though might be due to an actual phobia condition, have you spoken to your doctor? It might be worth your while if you havent Xx

I’m acturly a nitmare. I cnt even dance in my own kitchen with my Mrs watching I get so nervouse. But yet I nock on peoples doors as a sales person and sell stuff all day long. I think its the fact of loads of eyes been on me lol. It scares the shot out of me. I did my routine at the end class. Left after thst to get the bus and buy the time I got home my hands were still shaking. Id love to be able to perform infront of people add some sexy flow into routines. But any noise or a slight ohh or a wow or whistle or anything n I’m like as nervouse as a toddler just want to run n hide lol. I have my first shoot coming this saturday I’m do excited but nervouse st the same time lol. I tried recording my self n even that is uncomfortable for me. Maybe a doctor mite acturly help. I’m a very people person work in sales and a pub at weekends n can talk happily to strangers n small groups but more than 3 n I’m just quite lol.I did my driving theary test a few years ago n nervouse were that bad I was heaving in the toilet lol. zoey, maybe you could go out to a bar/club on a slow night like Tuesday and try dancing there? There will be fewer people than at class, it will be dark, and at a bar everyone is too busy with their drinks and their own stuff to pay you much attention. Plus a few drinks help me feel less self-concious 😉

You might even try this at home with a couple drinks and dim lights to avoid feeling like you're in a spot light. Maybe you could have your partner work on something else but be in the room to take the pressure off?

I have a feeling that once you get more comfortable you'll really wow everyone 🙂

I acturly think my nervouse come from fear of messing sumthing up or failing or not being good enough while people watch. After I did my first routine n finished it with no mess ups I felt amazed. If I drink im like a hole new person everything goes out the window. I’d get on a bar n dance with out a care in the world lol. I thought loads of times about doing a charity pole nite at the pub I work at. But I think id acturly faint before even getting on the pole lol.I have two close friends at my class that I can now dance infront of no problem.hmm think I need a nite out lol. Doing floor work and being sexy is now a huge problem were as if I took to pole 3 years ago shaking my bum n crawling n the sexy stuff would never off bothered me. I have lost a lot of confidence over the last few years since my social life and stuff went quite from having my son. It took me over a day to upload sum sexy pole pictures to fb and there is four of them n to get them four pictures it took nearly 2 hours of me being shy lol xxx

I use to be the same exact way!!!
If my teacher even looked at me in class i would freeze, break into a cold sweat and stumble till she left me alone. I would never ever EVER freestyle. I refuse to lift up or take off my tank top. This humors me cause i use to perform and dance on stage my entire adolescent years. So this new timid me was driving me insane. It was literally holding me back too.

Anyway, overtime i kind of had to push myself to get over it, little by little. Baby steps basically and with a little confidence help from my teacher.  Now 5 months in I'm one of the "cool kids" of the class. I don't care if anyone is looking and i just zone out. I performed parts of my upcoming performance in front of class mates 3 times recently. Something completely out of my comfort zone. First time was absolute horror. I shook like crazy, my stomach dropped and i froze. Second time i had a head cold but did my best. Got too winded and it screwed up my concentration. Third time i just hit a zone and nailed it. In front of people that use to be snide to me no less! It was like the final blow to that timid shell. I was shaking with adrenaline when i was done and it was the best feeling ever.
    .
So I would say just keep pushing yourself little by little out of your comfort zone. My anxiety still jumps to my throat when i know I'm going to be watched but i learned its ok. Push past as the lovely Alethea would say. You'll amaze yourself and that's all that matters.

I can talk to large groups of people/give presentations and speeches etc no problem. But dancing or pole dance freestyle or performance FORGET it! I hate the feeling. I've been poling almost 3 years and STILL have yet to do a freestyle in class or performance at a studio showcase. I cop out every time. Some days, I think I'll never be ready to do it. I'd like to, even day dream about performing and people oooing and ahhhing over my performance but when it comes down to it, I'm way too scared! And the few vids that I have posted here it took ALOT and I mean ALOT to get up the courage to shoot them and then post them.

Sorry, I don't have any advice, just wanted you to know you are not alone. 😉

LittleEngine, you are completely right about pushing yourself a little by little!

If you take a small step everyday, even if you fail, the fall is really small and you can get back up easily. And after a while, it adds up. If you where to throw caution to the wind, it's a lot scarier.

I still kind freeze if I have to freestyle in front of someone, so ti's not perfect. But I've come a long way. I started by posting videos here on studioveena and it was REALLY scary at first. But it gets easier everytime. I recently did my first competition and I was THIS CLOSE to beign sick with nerves back stage.I started shaking and thought about backign out, but I survived! And I know that means it'll be a little easier next time.

Awww thank you for your replys at least in not the only one. I think the only reason I did my routine was thst every one was supose to be performing them next week but in sway so the teacher quickly shouted everyone before they left when I told her I wnt b there n ext week lol. So I didn’t really have much time to think about saying no lol.see I can quite happily learn new tricks infront of my class and teacher and it dunt bother me. I hope one day I hit that place were I can dance with out worry. Xxx
